I have two questions I'm hoping someone on here can help me with. ( Trying to help out a friend )

- I Tunes : I don't know mutch about it, they use it for downloading music to MP3 players, so there is also an option to burn CD's from the music. So she adds it to the playlist and it says to insert a blank CD, then nothing...the 'burn' button never becomes enabled. Maybe theres some kind of setting? Something else you have to so first? I was hoping someone else is familiar with the program.

- Watching DVD's on the PC : she has a Dell, there was a problem with her whole CD drive, Dell came out and replaced it, now she can't watch movies on it. It says on the drive in the name of it, RDVD or something like that, so it is supposed to, but when you put in a regular DVD movie, it brings up Windows Media Center, but the screen is black with just the green Media player buttons at the top and bottom. I don't play movies on my PC so again I am not familiar with this. Anyone got any ideas?

-Jae

i'm thinking a possible fix for the cd problem would be you're trying to stick too many files on the disk. normal cd-r's are 80 min, so make sure the status bar at the bottom of itunes is saying under 80 minutes total. one of the things i've noticed in the itunes updates is that although they've added plenty of features (mostly in the itunes storefront) is that the userfriendly features will turn on and off between updates. but sometimes they'll return in the next updates.

to the dvd problem, you should download the new version of vlc player. it includes all the codecs you need to view the dvds on any player on your computer. if that doesn't fix the issue, you should trying downloading the proper drivers for the device. just google the "model name" and drivers, then you should be money. try vlc for sure though. it helped me figure out my generic dvd player's crap. gl!

edit: totally didn't notice the above reply, but it'll def. help to dl vlc Smiling

ps. it's definitely Laughing out loud

Re: I Tunes and DVD Problems

What media player is she using to try to view movies?

edit sorry tell her to download VLC media player and try to view her movie that way, if that works its most likely a codec issue

i love itunes

i love itunes & my ipod. the only problem i have is transferring the library when we get a new computer. of course the only reason that is a pain is because i am too lazy to take the time to really read through the directions. Smiling

library transfer

hi Smiling just wanted to let you know. it's super easy to transfer your library including the filenames and all the information excluding the album art if you use your ipod as a disk. if you're plugging it into a new computer, all you'll have to do is make sure all the drivers are properly installed. after your computer recognizes the ipod, you can go to your my computer window, then choose the removable disk (ipod). make sure your hidden files are being shown in your view options, then you will be able to see everything on your ipod disk. copy all the files into your my music folder on the computer, then you'll be able to add the folder from itunes and see all the songs from your ipod. this is the easiest way i've come up with. helps when you're reformatting your home computer too if you've got all your songs on a different computer, or if you'd like to reformat your pc. in my experience, the only thing you're losing from doing it this way is your "date added" feature, and the album artwork, which is easily recovered with the new itunes. let me know if you have more questions! gl!

more i tunes whatnot...

I also had a crappy time using the stupid I tunes software, had I not got a hundred or so free downloads I wouldn't have been messing with it in the first place. But here's another quick tip: After you've burned the songs to CD, the files left on your computer are useless if you want to never use the I tunes player again... so I went back and ripped all the songs off the CD and back onto my hard drive in mp3 format using a software I actually like. It took a while to manually rename all the songs but I think it was worth it. There may have been an easier way, but I didn't know it.

Re: more i tunes whatnot...

in your options, you can choose convert to mp3 when you're ripping, this loses the "useless if you want to never use the itunes player again" thing. they're ripped by default into an m4a format, so make sure you change that option.

Does she...

highlight the playlist she wants to burn her cd of first? Ok wait these are the steps...#1 Make a playlist. I usually use 16 or 17 songs depending on their length.#2 Highlight the playlist and right click on it.#3 Chose burn CD#4 Insert Blank CD into drive. FYI: Make sure she sin't playing any song swhile she is burning the CD sometimes this messes up a song or two!
