It's been a long time since our last contest, so we're making this one easy - and what could be easier than inviting your friends to join GrownUpGeek.com!? 

The contest:

This is so easy, anyone can do it, even non-geeks!  Whoever invites the most new members wins!   

The Prizes:

• First prize: Amazon Kindle
• Second prize: $50 cold, hard, cash (actually, Paypal or bank-check, but you get the idea) 

To WIN:

Invite your friends to join GrownUpGeek.com by sending an invitation.  To send an invitation click the "Invite your friends" link on the right-side gray area of most pages, enter their email address, and click the SEND button.  After your friend( create a GrownUpGeek.com account via your invitation they must then make at least one new post.  Only new forum-topics, blog-posts or "How To" posts are eligible - "comments" on existing posts will not get credit.  Whoever has the most valid new members (with at least one new post) by 9PM December 15, 2009 wins the Amazon Kindle!  Second prize goes to the member with the second highest number of new, valid invites, with at least one new post.

TIPS to win: Many people may not check their email, might delete the invitation, or the invite might go to their 'spam' folder.  Send a personalized followup email message to make sure they find their invitation and join.  Be sure to give them a reminder about making at least one new post - and yes, posts in the introductions area are eligible!  Once your invitee joins, they are also eligible to win the contest by inviting their friends.

Contest specific rules, disclaimers and fine print:

• You must be an active, current, validated member to play.  If you aren't yet a member, you can create a (free) account HERE.
• You must be at least 18 or older to win.  By entering this contest you agree to affirm that you are at least 18 years of age.
• Your invitee must sign up by clicking the "signup link" sent by you after completing the invite form and pressing the "send invite" button on the Invite page.  If your invitee circumvents this process, it will not count toward winning the contest
• Your invitee must make at least one new valid forum-topic post, blog post or "How To" post (posting a comment on an existing topic does not count)
• Current GrownUpGeek.com members (members with current accounts), previous members (members with closed/deleted accounts) or previously banned members are not eligible as invitee's
• New members/invitees that sign up with inappropriate member-names will be deleted and will not count toward the contest
• Posts made by invitees that are invalid, violate or TOS or don't meet our posting standards will be deleted
• Invitee's that sign-up/access GrownUpGeek.com via proxies or using other methods to hide their identity will not be counted toward winning.  Members with multiple invitee's accessing GrownUpGeek.com via proxies or using other methods to hide their identity will be disqualified/banned.
• Invitees that access GrownUpGeek.com via the same computer will not count toward the contest
• Invitees that violate our TOS or any other rules and/or become banned for any reason will not count towards the contest
• For various reasons, invitation emails may be blocked or otherwise not delivered due to issues beyond our control.  We cannot guarantee that every invitation email gets delivered.
• Dirty cheaters - Members found to be cheating, gaming, or influencing the contest in any way are not eligible to win and will be permanently banned from GrownUpGeek.com - mommy told you cheating was bad.. she was right.  If you are a cheater, we don't want you here.
• Contest ends December 15 2009, 9PM Pacific Time

Tie Breaker:

In the event of a tie for first or second place the member with the invitee with the most valid new posts (blog post, forum topic or how-to, not comments) will win.  If the tie is for first place, the looser of the tie will drop to second place, bumping the previous second place to third place (no prize).

The contest started a few minutes ago and ends on December 15th 2009 at 9pm Pacific Time. We plan on announcing the winners within 24 hours of the close of the contest however, if we get more entries than we anticipate, it may take longer. But we promise to announce the winners as soon as is humanly possible. Remember to read the general rules on claiming your prize.
