I was told to look at the Facebook profile of the man I was dating for almost a year. Here I found out that he was seeing at least 4 of us before leaving for Iraq. Within days of looking at his profile on Facebook, he blocked it and made it private in an attempt to keep me from finding out more than he wanted me to know. How did he know I was looking at his profile when I am not signed up for any of the profile tracker programs in Facebook or anywhere else?

Wow you all need to get lives outside of facebook. We make fun of nerds playing WoW and other alternative life games, facebook is no exception. If anything it's worse and fucked up the world.

if im not mistaken but most social networks have each person, under a id number. if per say some one types this number in with edited java scrips you can see chat messages (don't believe me google search how to view facebook chat messages, due note their are programs too) NOW if you use that same principle in a profile, you "could" see status, pictures...ect. kinda like a ("proxy surf")correct me if im wrong but it's just a theory

Assuming you are referring to a Facebook profile, you dont. There is no good, reliable way to track visitors on your Facebook.

Let me get this straight, if someone looks at my facebook account, they arent my friend, and they are not logged in, then there is still no way i can find out who it is?

Ok, lastly, what if I don't have a myspace account but my roommate does and I used his computer and he wasn't logged in? Would it show is screen name? Also, would it matter if I changed the ip address, does it still trace back? And, what can the average person do with an ip address. I typed in locate ip address and it shows me like 25 miles away from my actual location. Thanks.

If you go to someone's Myspace page that has a tracker on it, but you are not logged-in with a Myspace account when you do it, it will show them your IP address and depending on the tracker, may also relate that to your roomate's myspace account.

You cant really "change" your IP address, but you could use a Proxy - in that case, the tracker would show the IP address of the proxy, and probably would not relate it to your roommate's account.

If the person did get your IP, about all they can find out about you is who your Internet Service Provider is, and their office address. So since the ISP's office is usually near where you live, they would have a general idea of your location. If your ISP is something like AOL or Earthlink, it would be nowhere close unless you happen to live nearby their main-datacenters..

I guess let me rephrase. I dont know alot about facebook or myspace, so do the "so called" trackers like StalkerTracker (theres a few more i cant think of) actually work for this given example, or would it take something more sophisticated and someone with a greater knowlege on computers/internest to figure out who has been looking? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

For for Myspace - yes; you can get get their IP address and sometimes even their Myspace name/page
For Facebook - no
