Wondering what people's experiences have been will touchscreen cell phones. I'm thinking about getting a phone that only has a touchscreen and no physical keypad/keyboard. It's not an iPhone but I'm just looking for feedback from anyone who's used any touchscreen phone so it doesn't matter what specific phone you have.
I'm wondering mainly about the things below but anything you have to offer is appreciated.
1. Is it difficult to use the phone in sunlight - meaning can you see the touchscreen keypad well enough to dial numbers and write text messages for instance?
2. Does typing on the touchscreen instead of a physical keypad become tiresome or annoying after awhile or do you find it's about the same after you initially get used to it?
3. Have you had any problems with the touchscreen becoming less responsive over time?
4. Have you had problems with the screen getting damaged and not being able to use your phone to even make phonecalls (a damaged screen on a keypad phone still allows phone calls to be dialed but a broken touchscreen could destroy the touchscreen keypad).

I have an iPhone so my comments are limited to my experience with it:
1) No - it's bright and easy to read no matter where i am, indoors or outside
2) No - however it does take some getting used to. the iPhone has a very smart autocorrect that once you learn to trust fixes most common typos on the fly
3) No - it's as good as it was the day I took it out of it's beautifully designed box
4) No - i have had my iPhone for 1 year, 3 days and it does not have as much as a scratch on the screen. i have seen 'torture tests' of the iphone which prove it is very VERY hard to scratch or break
of course, if you get some cheap no-name brand phone with a touchscreen, your mileage may vary..
thanks hubby. that's good news. i'd love to get a 3g iphone but i had to switch from ATT because i can't get coverage in my own home. so i'm with verizon now and the coverage/service is great but the phones are more limited. i'm looking to get an LG Dare and LG is a good company. but i didn't ask about that phone specifically because it's not out yet for a couple more weeks so no one would have used it already.
