Watching videos without a big pointer in the way

OK, i like to watch alot of diffrent videos on my mac and somtimes the player will not have an option for full screen. But, thanks to Mac, we get a zoom feature by holding ctrl and scrolling forward. This is great except that all i see is a huge pointer in my way! my question is how to get rid of that little pointer. I found one way which is to find a text input box on the page click on it like im about to type somthing, zoom in and then press any button and voila! the pointer is gone.... but is there any other way>?
