Vista - help

Vista - help

Ok I'm on vacation and I have my neices with me.  Both have new laptops with Vista.  Lucky me most of my programs are for XP and don't run on Vista. SOOOOOO anyone with some cool (Free) Vista programs.  I'm looking for some anitvirus recommendations (hey any free ones) also what about any photo editing ones, picture resizing ones.  I have alot of torrent programs but there cracked for XP not Vista.  So if you have vista..let me know.

The gimp program is pretty good and very close to adobe photoshop elements which I have not been able to get to work on my vista pc's. Also there is picasa from google which works pretty good for basic fixes of photos.....

Not Vista Compatible

Ok, i just ordered a flash drive and just found out it's Not Vista Compatible (NVP). There's a LOT of other hardware and software that's currently NVP. My question is: will the operating system be adapted more to "old" soft- and hardware or will MS demand that the hard and software be updated? Or a little of both?
