Can anyone help me in how to get rid of the vindo virus? I don't have it but I know someone who has and they asked me for a hand. I don't know about this sort of thing so any help would be appreciated.

The anti virus (AVG) has shown that there is a virus under that name, but will not heal it or get rid of it and it seems to be spreading a lot so really need to get rid of it. They are using XP is if that helps.

Re: help with gettinf rid of a virus

Vundo is a VERY tricky virus to get rid of. The symantec's tool is a good start, but you will probably have to run several vundo fix programs to get rid of ALL of it. Its also crucial you run the fix program in SAFE MODE. It took me (and a VERY helpful friend) about 10 hours to get rid of vundo on my computer. I have 3 other vundo fix programs I'd be happy to send you if you'd like them!

Symantic has a removal tool for that.  You can see it here:

Trojan.Vundo
