I was banned from a forum, haven't received a reason why, and would like to get back on to see if anything was deleted that might point to what happened. It was a political forum so who knows what the issue was!
I tried using an ip and port number from a free proxy site but it wouldn't let me on, I just kept getting the "Server Not Found" message. Do you have to go through IE to use a proxy or can I use Firefox? I was in IE as the site said I had to be, but it still wouldn't let me through. Any help would be greatly appreciated along with a site or two that would direct me.
I have adblock in Firefox, so I am not as concerned about my real IP being tracked, but I AM curious if there is a way to choose an IP so that someone will think they are being viewed by someone in a particular city.
Does anyone know of a proxy site that lets you choose an alternate IP (just generally by city)?
google that area and see if you find any. Example : "Miami FL proxy servers" - I did that and found some that were located there.
I went to a free proxy. It said to type in my address and and it would take me where I wanted to go.
So I want my IP address to be conceled because I am stalking the woman of my dreams (my X girlfriend) on myspace lol, and she said we need some distance because she is hot for this up-and-comming assistant movie producer in Hollywood. If they're talking on myspace (which they currently are), then I pretty much have no shot because I can't compete with that. So I check to see the progress of their relationship and the conversations they post... hoping that eventually he'll lose interest since they haven't gotten too serious yet. But I do not want her to see that someone (me) keeps visiting her page. So, how can I use a proxy to check the status of their relationship and see if there's a time when this Brett Favre type might be out of the picture so I can make my move? HAHA!!! Do I just go to that free proxy page and start searching from there, or do I need to do some other things when I get to that page before searching?

Plain and simple is if she has a tracker it will show a different IP for you and a different location. Does she have a tracker?
Best and easiest way to hide is to block all trackers. See this thread to see how to (its easy) : How to block Myspace Trackers If you do that you wont ever need to use a proxy.
Awesome, Thanks very much! Oh, by the way.. if I go to one of any proxy sites, do i just use their search box to goto the link I want? Or do I have to do something first in order to be searching under their proxy address?
they would have a address bar on their site that you would put your URL into.
At the risk of sounding dumb, how does one use a proxy exactly, as in step by step instructions??
Also can you be in another country and have your IP come up like you're in the U.S. by using a proxy?

Any more suggestions for proxy servers? Hidemyass works but yeah it has a ton of pop unders in IE. I am using both at the moment (IE and Firefox). Has anyone found a good one for IE? HMA also directs me to their main page a LOT in both IE and Firefox. Currently I'm running 3proxy on Firefox with no real probs, and youhide on IE which is sloooooow.
Since im not really sure what you are looking for anymore- since you have two working proxies, that should get you the access you want- try checking out this list of free proxy servers. Most proxies will have some sort of pop-up/under/ads etc. Thats how they can afford to be free.

Thanks! I learn something new every day! I didn't think about that fact with the ads. I do appreciate your help, I know it's a strange request. As I said, on Firefox things are fine with 3proxy, but on IE it's a mess with just about any one I try. I will check out that site.
Being the owner of a forum myself, when people are banned, their IPs are also banned. I also often impose a ban on all known proxy servers for a week or two because people DO try to sneak back on. So, my advice would be to try to find a very obscure proxy to use.
A lot of proxies have pop-unders (runs under the main page, doesnt pop-up on top like typical pop-ups) It helps keep the proxies running and they generally arent malicious ads, so i wouldnt be too concerned.

In using 3proxy I can get back on, and yes they are pop-unders. When I go around the board each time I click on a different thread a new pop-under comes up. I just don't want a bunch of spyware on my pc. I have things running that usually stop that from happening, but you never know! I still don't know why I was banned and the mod won't write me back. I would still like to find a better option than 3proxy so if anyone can help I'd appreciate it!
hidemyass.com is a good one- give it a shot. It also has pop-unders, but not quite as many as you seem to be experiencing. Also, they are not spyware, just regular annoying ads :)
out of curiosity, and since I run adult sites and forums myself, where do you find the list of known proxies you use when banning? That would be most helpful to me.
