So, I blocked urchin tracker with addblock. Then I viewed my own profile several times and the profile views count did not increase. Im wondering if the urchin tracker is for view count. If not, does anyone know how to block profile views count?
Urchin and Profile Views Count
I'm pretty sure you count toward the view counter. You're assigned a "token" even when logged out.
Momof3, I'm guessing that your main concern is that you want to check out your teenage children and don't want to be tracked, so I'm going to address all your issues here in this post.
- More than likely you stopped yourself from being tracked when you disabled everything in Adblock.
- Myspacewatch is not a downloadable program and only requires that you put the url in for the person you wan to monitor. Feel free to try it out, your IP address is not being tracked and they're not invasive with emails. Heck, I just received one last week and I completely forgot that I even had an account with them...and that was over a year ago. It was kinda of funny to think that I had this profile crawled for over a year...and forgot about it.
- Myspacewatch is pretty much worthless...
- I would check out your teenagers with a proxy IP - there are plenty of references here in this forum to them - just search for them. There is no way that your geographical location will show up.
- There should be no working trackers that will show your profile if you're signed in while surfing through a proxy IP address.
Hope this helps.

Thank you so much. Very helpful. Now I do know that when Myspacewatch crawls the profile each time it does count as a view on Myspace's view count even if the profile is marked to private. Would you think then that it would be logging info for the IP address of the server that crawled the profile or the IP you used when signing up for the Myspacewatch account or maybe even some other one? This is all so confusing.
>>>Myspacewatch crawls the profile each time it does count as a view on Myspace's view count..
How did you know that...you crawled yourself? If that's the case, sign up for mixmap tracker and stick it in your profile to verify.
>>>would be logging info for the IP address of the server that crawled the profile or the IP you used when signing up
I would be surprised if it showed your sign-up IP address - that's just too complicated and unnecessary from the server end.
Just a thought, but why don't you 'advertise' that you're looking at their profile? It may keep them straight...

Yeah,
But, the theory applies if you can't get in, neither can random strangers or potential "bad apples". It kills their social life..heh heh.
You can always create a fake profile with some attractive person geared toward their age group and see if they add you as a friend. You may learn more than you want to know...

Ooh, you're sneaky!
I know this has probably been explained and re-explained, but just so I'm clear. A graphic or picture or something has to actually load before info can be tracked, right? So, in theory then, if you've blocked all the trackers or the profile is set to private, is it possible or what would make it possible for you IP address, referrer, etc. to still be logged?
Yeah..
But can you see it in Adblock (profile tracker in the headline)??
That was the one thing that made me hesitate...
I do know that "Dave" and his MyspaceMozilla ext. was able to see it in my profile..somehow..and successfully added it to his list of tracker warnings.
Of course, I did point out that it was there...
