Yeah... I did find that pic but didn't wanna post a kiddie pic... but I did come across an interview that says she's uncomfortable with the size of her ears... and that she wears her hair over them purposefully... but in the movie she wears a ponytail every now and again and you can't NOT notice... it's distracting... I was looking at her ears more than at Rob Pattinson... and for me that's saying something lmao

I wanted to throw this in for those non-Twilight readers... I don't think it's *that* great, but maybe it will help some:

Re: Twilight (movie)

Okay... before I go on for  my 'slept on it' review... I have to warn you... the main reason I say it's the director and writer's fault... is because this wasn't just a disappointment when compared to the books... this was just a flat out all around horrible movie...

First and foremost, you don't get the understanding on how intense their love is for eachother.. It sorta reminds me of like if you hear a 16 year old say she's gonna marry some guy she's been dating for two weeks... you know they're just being stupid kids... That's the same feeling you get from this... (minus his stalker confession)...

Second... I know Edward hates himself... but in the story he was just happy to have her... they were both pretty smiley and happy... you don't get that happiness... she seems like she needs mental help and again, he's just a self-loathing stalker.

Third... Jacob... You don't get the real crush vibe from him... as a matter of fact... in the story she's got like 5 guys after her... and you don't get that vibe at all... maybe from Mike Newton in the beginning... But you don't get the feeling from Eric Yorkie or Tyler... Tyler is barely in it.. just when he almost crushes her with the van... that's it... (I really missed not having that prom phone call with him lol)... but Jacob is a big part of the next two books (mainly the second)... but that's also why I will let it slide... because that can be addressed later...

2na... I think it's funny you say that.. I woke up wishing I had the Director's number... it was her responsibility to make this a good movie... and this was unacceptable..... I realllllly want to call her up and ask her WTF was she thinking... and if she made my hotty hot look like a spaz in Biology... (that really set up the crappiness)

I hate writing all this negative whatever about the movie... I just think, maybe it'll suck slightly less for others... and simply just be a bad movie, if they don't go in expecting much.... again I do plan to see it again, prepared for the crappiness... Or maybe I'm still in shock and just can't  believe it was as bad as I think it was...

I have an urge to lie to people though... tell them it was great... say 'Yeah, it was awesome! Go see it!!'... in attempts to make them enough money that they don't hesitate on making sequels... and I've seen some of the reviews... and everyone says it's the director's fault... so I highly doubt they'd let her direct the others.

I want to leave some positive notes on it though...

The fight scene towards the end was pretty good... minus one growl that made me giggle...

The baseball scene was kinda cool... it was acceptable...

The kiss scene was pretty hot... until he threw himself against the wall... that was overdramatic (as was the entire movie)... but I liked when he tried to kill her

When they finally start dating and he takes her to school for the first time... that was entertaining (*still giggling*)

I did kinda like the scene where he saves her from the gang of rapists... (that sounds sort of out of the blue if you don't know what I"m talking about)

Billy Black's character made me laugh (not outta crappiness)...

Mike Newton was funny... he did a lot with that tiny role

I dunno... I'm sure there's more... right now I'm caught up on the lack of story... they put so much extra crap in there that could have been replace by actual story development...

Okay... food time... I'll rant more later.

Re: Twilight (movie) first review...

It's impossible to conceive my disappointment in this movie... I blame the writer for screwing it up, and the director for making it look as awful as it did... I want to say the acting was bad, but I honestly think they didn't have much choice in what they did... I spent the majority of the time laughing... some of it was entertaining... most of the laughter was just from how bad it was. I want to see it again just to give it a second chance in a different setting.. maybe it was just my mood at the time, but I doubt that since everyone else was laughing *almost* as much as me.

All the best scenes were gone... all the decent ones were mutilated... and Kristen's ears are too big for her head.

And if you haven't read the books, you'll be clueless to any of the characters other than Bella, Edward, and Charlie... maybe James (then again he's not very dynamic)... but they give so little information on the rest that you'll just be lost... they all have like one or two lines... you need to know them going in... not that it will do the movie any good.

This was definitely a movie for the kiddies... (acceptance wise)... although there were a few (I stress *few*) good scenes.

It had SO much potential... it was a great book... I can't even fathom how they could possibly screw it up as badly as they did... they took so much out that it was jumpy... they made it so over dramatic that you couldn't do anything but laugh at how cheesy the 'seriousness' of it all was..

I really hope that if they do the sequels (which I'm actually still hoping for) that they get a new writer and a new director.

I've decided... I want to change the world and make it a better place... I'm going to start by taking over Hollywood.

Re: Twilight (movie) first review...

Honestly I kind of expected this. I am still interested in seeing it, but, yeah, after watching videos on YouTube of behind-the-scenes & interviews & such, I got a feeling I would be let down. Even though the movie might suck it could end up doing well because the fan base was so large & dedicated. Also I remember thinking the first Harry Potter movie was pretty TERRIBLE (made for the kiddies like you said) but I believe they got a new director for the sequels & I absolutely love them. If Meet The Spartans can reach number one at the box office, I have hope for Twilight's success.

awe, that's dank! i was hoping to read your excitement and enthusiasm this morning. i read a few brutal reviews last night but those didn't equate to too much for me because they didn't have your personality. so, go see it again and hopefully it is everything you wanted it to be. in the mean time, i'll call hollywood and voice your complaint =) - - husband of mine's step sister is executive vice president of production at universal.

Re: Twilight (movie)

the other nite a preview/commercial of the film was on and mini took the opportunity to inform us that she couldn't wait to see the movie. husband of mine gently explained to her that it was "too steamy" for an eleven year old. mini was pretty easy on him when she replied, "news flash daddy...i read the book at bff's months ago. it isn't what you think ...besides, there were some big words in there that bff didn't even know what they meant."

guess we're all going to see it now!

Re: Twilight (movie)

My Girlie is 12 - she and all of her friends devoured books.  I remember searching the island we were on for the "new one."  She hates how most of the characters were cast.  I told her that is the problem with most good literature.  It's better left in one's head.

I will share your review, Anime, she'll appreciate the warning.  I agree, it was totally marketed toward the tween age group.  Girlie's bookstore at school is selling the books with pictures from the movie.

I already told her of the movie trainwreck that were the Anne Rice books that I adore - and will pass down to her when she can handle it.  I still gag when anyone says Lestat and Tom Cruise in the same sentence.

I will be seeing it this weekend with 4 7th graders of with me, and I'm sure surrounded by others.

That, right there, is exactly why I'm not looking forward to this flick as much as I'd like to.  While Meyer's books aren't nearly as intense as Rice's, they're still decent, fun.  If Hollywood can screw up fully developed characters, well, they don't have as much to work with in these stories, I can't expect much.  Then again, I might be surprised.  I'll wait for the PPV.

Re: Twilight (movie)

I wouldn't be too surprised... her age group seems to be in the main demographic for this movie... they expect the majority to be tweens and teens... I think anyone who isn't in that group is only going because they're Twilight fans via the book, or are having to take a younger person

The only 'steamy' moment has been discussed in a lot of interviews... he wants to try kissing her and he ends up almost killing her...

The series seems to have it's morals... no sex before marriage type thing... I think if you're really concerned, I wouldn't start worrying until the third or fourth book... that's when the real love triangle comes up and when it might be slightly more mature than one might want an 11 year old to read... then again, evidently there's not much stopping her if she's reading the books elsewhere...

Oh... and my one peeve about the books... Stephenie Meyer wayyyy overuses the word 'chagrin'... it wouldn't surprise me if it shows up on every other page or so...

Re: Twilight (movie)

I'm sooooo excited!!! I'm going to see it tonight... my friend got tickets a few weeks ago for a small group of us... I told her to make sure to get them early since everyone is selling out (and I was unsure about the Twilight fanbase in San Antonio... better safe than sorry)... and thankfully she did because, yep... most places sold out...

I'll be doing a dancy dance all day Smiling

I've got about 3 other appointments to see this movie on top of this so far with other people... and I'm not complaining in the LEAST... even if it flops at least there's hot vampires to watch :D   I'ma be dancy-dancing to each showing!

Re: Twilight (movie)

I heard on a local radio station today that Twighlight premiered in our City (in northern CA) yesterday. They talked to a teen girl who went and she loved it, even though she was the ONLY person there dressed up (poor thing!). So did anyone see it?

Well I know it premiered on Monday... dunno about yesterday...

The Monday Hollywook Premier (I think it was Hollywood) can be seen HERE (it's been edited so not too much blahness... there's some interviews with a lot of the actors including Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson)... I was gonna embed it but it plays automatically which I don't like.

Not the world premier, just a local premier. It looks like it was just one theater in town. The rest will get it on Friday. Can't wait. Although I will be waiting until next week because I want to see it at the drive through, and they have two movies for $6 on Tuesdays + no work on Wednesday!!! Woohoo!

animestrinity - just watched an interview w/your "crush." he said there will be a sequel/Twilight II, and that he already has the script in hand. btw, if you already knew or posted such, feel free to delete this. click here to watch - it is after brad pitt, miley, and will smith. about 30 seconds into it.

Re: Twilight (movie)

No, I've seen that interview too Smiling

It made me incredibly happy..... but at the same time they mentioned that they're waiting to see how well the movie does when it opens up... so I'm guessing they have the power to cancel if the movie flops...

But I think the series has a large enough following that it won't flop... even  if it sucks, I still imagine them defending it... so I don't really see any bad reviews coming it's way except from those stuffy self important critics that think their opinion matters...

*does sequel dance*

Re: Twilight (movie) funny! :)

Okay... I came across this interview and I had to put it up... I'd put it up at the top but it's not directly Twilight related... my eyes are still watering from laughing... maybe I'm just tired... It's Stephenie Meyer (the author of the Twilight Series) and Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart interviewing each other... I thought Roberts interruption at the end was hilarious mixed with the look on Kristen's face...

Oh Animes, he is a bit too shaggy for me, but I can see why you think highly of him/his portrayal. Did you get the feeling Robert and Kristin don't care for each other? She looked pretty annoyed when he first started talking about cats dying.

Re: Twilight (movie)

La la la... I redid the first trailer... it's a little less fuzzy (unless you full screen it lol)...

I also wanted to mention... that it sorta bugs me that the 'you brought a snack' line switched speakers... Laurent was the original speaker... asking it rather than stating it... now James says it... *grumbles*... I think it made for a better scene for James to be sitting there quietly planning to himself...

From the footage that I've seen, I think the actress that plays Rosalie is really good... she's easier to believe even when the scene is out of the blue and you're not in movie mode...

Annnnddd... what else what else? Oh! Have the 'abilities' been mentioned in the movie yet?? I don't recall seeing anything in trailers (then again I've seen so much it's all a big blur... I'm curious if the movie will show me anything that I have *not* seen yet lol)... I sorta want to blab it out right now, but maybe for the non-readers I should hold my tongue...   If they have kept it a secret, I'm sort of impressed... a special little twist for those who do not already know Laughing out loud

Alice is still my favorite Smiling

Alrighty... I figured before I overly clutter the page with videos, maybe I'll start linking anything non trailer... yeah... enjoy Smiling

anime i feel like we need to stage an intervention...lol

is the girl who plays bella the same actor from the movie the messangers?  i also saw the tree jumping thing and agree that it looks kinda hammy...but all in all looks like a decent flick.

Re: Twilight (movie) updated

Yes she is...

And what really irks me about all these cheesy looking stunts, is that they only added them to 'show' the supernatural powers of the vampires since they aren't really seen in the book (too fast for Bella's eyes)... I'm thinking, if you're going to already add something that's not in the book to make the movie look all awesome and a bit more action oriented... then... make it look awesome... if the effects make it look wrong... then don't do them... they weren't apart of the book, it's not gonna make us upset... I promise...

I think the 'walking' part of the vampires looks both cheesy and cool from what I've gathered on the trailers... they put a 'magic carpet' and covered it up... and then pulled it at like 30mph and had the 'vampires' walk on it while filming... I dunno if it'll be edited to look like only they're moving, but for some reason seeing the strip of ground move under them looks kinda cool to me, it's like both slow motion and superspeed at the same time...

Oh... fun fact... they put slippers made to look like bare feet on the vampires (the bad ones)... I guess to protect their feet from walking around outside in freezing weather

Re: Twilight (movie) updated

hmm, i wonder if it's a similar effect as the one i saw on true blood last nite (i'm trying to catch up).  the vampires had to make a hasty departure and they sorta 'sped' away.  looked like they were being pulled also.  probably that's how hollywood pulls off that effect in general.  just wondering if it looks the same.  i thought it was kinda cool.

i agree though.  i hate when a movie i'm looking forward to is almost ruined by bad effects.  in this day we should be able to make just about any effect look 'real'.
