A certain some one asked me to post a review of the Trivium, Coheed & Cambria and Slipknot concert I saw this past weekend. So here goes.
Having not yet seen Trivium I was a little excited about this concert despite it being in an arena. Somewher my wife read a bit about the tour from Coheed. Trivum and Coheed were to play for 50 minutes and then Slipknot would play. Up first was Trivium. It was heavy, brutal and over very quickly. They played for just over 20minutes. Trivium sounded very god and got pretty decent response form the Maggots, uh I mean crowd. It's clear that they liked Trivium more than Coheed. Coheed came out and played their most metally songs for about 35 minutes. I was more than bummed that they played for such a short time and that I did not hear the songs I had hoped to hear. I did hear the songs I expected to hear. Crowd response was pretty mellow. It was clear who was ther for Coheed and who was there for the 'knot. As much as it pains me I must say that Coheed did not sound as good as I would have liked either. We stayed for one Slipknot song just to say we had seen Slipknot so I can't tell you if they rocked everyone's faces off or not. I was bummed that it took almost as long to set up Slipknot's stage as both Trivium's and Coheed's sets combined. So one hour for both sets vs fourty five minutes to set up for Slipknot. Bummer.
Moral of the story. I wouldn't go to any other stop on this tour. I will wait for either Trivium or Coheed to come around by themselves next time. It sucks to go for your band to find out they only get about a six song set.
P

is drifting into the abstract...
Damn, Coheed and Slipknot are both bands I would like to see, but I'm not really into concerts so much anymore. Sorry that they didn't stay out for as long as they should have. I like Slipknot quite a bit but I haven't listened to the new album enough to have a solid opinion of it.
