I posted a thread a couple weeks ago about the accuracy...thanks for all the input everyone. I have another question..I have read that when you put the code where they instruct you to, that it doesn't necessarily mean that the user in question actually clicked on your page. That the IP could have been tracked through their search feature. What does this mean exactly?? ..Im not clear on that "search" part. What I also read.. mentions to put the code in your "about me". Has anyone tried this?? And if anyone has any input on the "search"...what does that mean that they are using the serch feature to check my page or does it get tracked if they have saved a message in their inbox from me...would that track the I.P. ?
Well for those who dont know the story from the origina thread...Basically here is my story too..I have nothing to hide...I was in a relationship for a long time..and we broke up..mutually..we have been apart for some months. One day I decided to try this TSpace ..and I checked some of my hits and did a "Whois" on th I.P. and its coming from her job.
I basically just want to know what method is better the "headline" or "About me" is there a difference?
Now I also have an idea which I will also try..and report back..I dont know if anyone has tried this BU can you put the code in the properties of your profile pic...would this work too??
Thanks,
GammaBoy

Does anyone know if TrackSpace notifies someone if you identify them from their MS Friend ID?
No they don't. The only way a the Myspace user would know if they were a member of Trackspace and saw their IP being identified. So, no worries, you're in the clear to put in people's id's.
However, if that person is identified and shows up on another users trackspace log, they can put in another person's id to take that particular person's id off of trackspace if they want too. Not everyone on trackspace has been correctly identified. Most people who use trackspace also use a number of other trackers, that way you can double check your hits to see if they are the right people.
What you do in this life, will echo for eternity.
Well heres an update...I did the change on TS and it works like a charm...AND then PT works AMAZING..I really am impressed by their service...In my opinion..top notch!
Thank You everyone for your advice and input. Anyone have any questions feel free to contact me !
My apologies for asking this question on this existing thread. I am new to this forum and haven't yet figured out how to start a new topic and navigate around.
My question: Is it possible for someone to track one's IP from reading a myspace message? An old flame is sending messages to me but I haven't read them in case he can trace my ip to my new location. And yes, I am curious to read them but I do not want him to know where I relocated to.
Thanks!
I know you can place trackers in regular emails and I’ve seen sites that you can add one to MySpace emails, but I don’t know if they work. If you are unsure, use a proxy to log in and check your mail.
I meant from the "message me" function. It just shows up in my inbox on myspace...not an e-mail.
Most of the mailtrackers (not that I could ever get one to work...) use a hidden image just like almost all of the IP trackers. I think if you read the messages using Firefox and Adblock you're probably safe because those images will likely be blocked from loading. Either way, it's a gamble, and you will have to decide if curiosity will get the best of you.
I know I'd open them or go crazy wondering what they said...

I did download Firefox and I was also able to actually follow the instruction I read on this forum on how to block tracker! Yep, I'm a blonde...but I'm a learnin' too!
If the e-mail trackers work on a hidden image much like a tracker blocker, why can't those be incorporated with the tracker blocker? Just a question here... I guess I am displaying my ignorance.
OH, I joined the same night the photobucket exploit came out...and I DID get to see the old flames pictures! I was in awe to see he had a whole album dedicated to me.
Most likely any mail tracker would already be incorporated into the list, as long as it's known.
And, just giving my unsolicited opinion... How could you NOT open them... You have MUCH more self control than I ever could! Kudos to you.
I used the most current list on here. At least I think I did! I am really new to so much of this, but am learning quickly.
You guys and gals are awesome! Kudo's to ALL!
I still have not opened them... I am very curious, but not so curious as to have him see the location of my IP.
Oh, heck yea I am curious! LOL That is why I am researching so much so I can hurry up and read them!
Then you're probably safe to open them. Just remember nothing (esp on the internet) is 100%. But if it were me, I'd read 'em!
GuG is what got me and a lot of others into using Firefox and misc add-ons. Keeping up with the updates in the Adblock filter list can sometimes be a chore but it is certainly worth it. I'm at work right now using IE and I have to be extra careful about visiting people's pages in an attempt to avoid trackers.
You can still use a proxy to sign into myspace, and then read the myspace mail.
I just purchased Anonymizer... but I am not really certain if it works or not. Call me CHICKEN TemptressAngl! LOL
I think I understand what some are saying about an email tracker. I used to have readnotify.com and it worked for a while and then the supposed hidden code must have became obvious.
I just didn't know if myspace inbox messages where the same as e-mail.
At any rate there are now 5 myspace messages and I am really curious! lol
The reason why users are tracked if you come up using the "search" function is because your headline shows up in search results.Just like those who have an image in their headline - that shows too.
So let's your name is John in Chicago and you're 25. Someone searches for all the 25 year old Johns within a Chicago zip code. You're not who they're looking for, but you come up in their results. These results show your basic info - age, location and *headline*.
A random search like that would show as a hit on your tracker if your tracking code is in your headline. The headlines show in the search results, so they're tracked whether they visit your page or not.
No tracker will have anything to do with mail, your inbox, nothing like that.
Trackspace says results are more accurate when used in your "About Me". But if your profile is private, it will only track your friends.
So it's a trade off.
If you place the code in your headline, you will receive hits from people searching for you or people with your name, others from your schools, etc. In other words, it may show a hit even though no one actually clicked on your profile. If you place it in your About Me, the only hits will be from people who looked at your page. I tried it in my headline for a while, but I went back to CreateBlog because CB actually distinguishes between a search and a hit. (I use Profiletracker as my main hits tracker.) You could probably place in your profile pic, but I believe it would only record a hit if someone looked at your photo page, not your profile. If your profile is private, place theTrackSpace code in your headline to find out who is 'trying' to look at your profile. If it is public, then place it somewhere in your profile to be sure it is a true hit. Hope that helps.
