Tracking who's been viewing my Facebook profile
TAGs: Facebook, Facebook tracker, tracking Facebook, who views my Facebook, who looks at my Facebook, who views my Facebook profile
I need to know if there's a way for me to find out who's been viewing my profile in Facebook. Can somebody please help me out? PLEASE!!!
Moderator edit: For information on a tracker for Facebook, see this page:-> Tracker for Facebook
I have 3 people pop up, who have absolutly no connection to my only 20 friends on facebook, these 3 are in totaly differents spheres of life. Why wouldnt facebook suggest people who have looked on your profile as friends, it saved it from having to generate randomes also. The 3 people occured in the time frame of 2 months also. I am a guy and 3 people are female, and well some people are nervous about adding as it may cause issues especialy with ex's if you get my jist.
The problem I now have is, do I add them, or even private message rekon will cause issues either way. I went to a club and asked for girl [1] over a 4 week period, her profile appeard on my suggested, 2 other girls are friends with each other, but with no connection with any one on my list at all in ANY way, and I had a good couple of nights out with em bout a year ago, they both became single last month, and low and behold they apear on my suggested. As I am a lazy ignorant "bar stuard" I have very few facebook pals, so it makes the idea of people profiling you facebook show up on as a suggest friend[without any mutual, school or work, or email connection] extremely plausible, and here is it simply, why wouldn't facebook do this? What harm is it realy doing, its facebooks sly wink, saying these people are looking at your profile oh no thier err...... its random or based on etc, well yer it is, but amidst that you have the people who are having a little look see.
The person mentioned before about some one important in thier past life apearing in suggested box, more proof, how many people google people from thier past life and facebook or myspace accounts shows up, come on guys wisen up, if you can discount the other ways these facebook profiles apear in you suggested, then you got someone interested.
I'm kinda romantic, so I like this idea also lol.
3 girls with no links to my massive list of 20 friends as thier ages and work etc are not connected in anways, sorry but its really that obvious.
I am not sure if this is known, and used as a sly form of flirtation i.e. like you text first, it means you like me kinda thing[if not it soon wil be lol] or people really aren't on to it.
Quite obvious and I am very happy that it does this!
FaceBook is a public forum (your wall for instance). Unless you have a security lock/block on your site; anyone can surf around and see you. It's not stalking either; as some people surf and click to try and find old pals. Plug in Jim Smith and see what you get? How about Jimmy Jones or Susie Smith. The truth about secrecy is that it is not secret and thus gives people a false sense of security.
Finally I understand how facebook makes suggestions to be our friends, people do searches on us in facebook's search, then that facebook person is suggested to be our friend. Interesting, although I perceive problem & that is many people use my computer while i'm logged into facebook and they do their own searches for their school friends.
Best to be aware of internet apps spying on us while we are logged into any social site .... keeping the boogie-monsters away is a very good thing ! Have fun cyber-surfing and stay safe
I believe that facebook matches you to people on a number of different levels.
One of which would be friends of your friends, and their friends, and so on...etc...etc...
I do think that the main way they do it is based on your interests and the ads you click on on their site, etc...
Like if you like "Fight Club by Chuck Palanhuik(SP?)" [BOOK] then it will match you to people of a similar age (?) from a similar place (?) who like that same book or even a book/film/etc... of similar theme.

Facebook keep your email username and password (from when you add your friends from hotmail, yahoo etc etc) and check against it's records of email addresses to suggest new friends
Nobody really knows because obviously nobody thats posted so far on this issue works for facebook.

Facebook gives you suggestions based on friends of your friends. If you take a close look at the suggestions you'll find that each of them is connected to you in some way. (ie, if you look at your friends list of friends, that person will show up on somebody's list.
Tested out the theory that facebook tracks who views your page and puts them in your friend suggestions. I made a few fake profiles and continually looked at my real profile. Not one of my fake profiles showed up in friend suggestions on my real page.
I've been doing the same testing with a Facebook fake of my own and another member here at GuG and so far I'm going to have to say "myth busted!"..
I tested it with a fake account too and It didn't work for me either, but I went on an interview the other day, came home and tried to find the person that interviewed me. I searched the name but couldnt find her. The very next day she popped up in my suggestions! Im guessing she searched me out too ( seems all potential employers are doing that now) Maybe if two people both search for and/or check out the persons profile, they then get put into suggestions??
Could it have something to do with the searches you do on facebook, like on the Pieces of Flair or Bumper Sticker apps? I searched something on there (an inanimate object) and recently had a company that sells that same object show up on my friend suggestions. I've never searched for their company specifically or viewed their profile, and we don't have any friends in common, so that's all I can figure. I also searched for the object they sell in the general search area of facebook under "pages" and "groups" but had never come across their specific page before, so who knows...
There IS a way, they show up on the upper right hand corner as a suggested "friend", right above the ads. I've had a couple of people I know show up there and not request me to be their friends, so I know they were looking at my profile. And we had no friends in common. So they showed up there and, since we had no friends in common, how would facebook know we knew each other and suggest we be friends? can't believe no one else has noticed this!!
Yes, I have the same question as I had people coming up on my facebook, I know, but never send a friends request. There are also people which I have blocked, but want to know if they still try to get on my facebook. So far I found no answer how I can check this.
I had a link snet to me but it didn't work. So, how can I find out?
i think you have a point there, how else would they be suggested
oh yes, that has been noticed and discussed a few times.. some people disagree with the theory that Facebook uses who looks at your profile to "suggest" friends, but I think they do. They also use common friends, etc.
"theory that Facebook uses who looks at your profile to "suggest" friends"
That is an really interesting theory.
SUPER-Hunh? You're not serious are you? Facebook looks at at the friends of people that you've added to suggest new friends. No mystery there. It has NOTHING to do with who lurks your profile - that's so irrevelent - it all has to do with who you are connected to. The only people that I've been suggested to add as friends have *always* been a friend of a friend - etc. That's how it works. Lurking doesn't do anything!
It does so. Don't be naiive. Why wouldn't it?
There's definately something that works, but I don't know what it is. I went on to someone's page & they new straight away..... a) who it was. & b) The time and date. Even though I was not a friend... so give me a clue what have they downloaded.....
How do you know that they know who it is and the time/date?
because I got an arsy text from them asking why I had been on their page on such & such a date....
anyone ever tried this? I googled Facebook tracker and tthe search came up with this: http://xxx.com/ i don't would very much like to install it on my computer though because i wouldn't know how to remove things like trojans, etc... :-/

Anything that requires a download for a tracker...is no good. Its either a scam or some type of malware. Id bet on malware.
