wierd text messages

I'm wondering what these are: I've gotten two text messages that both said "PLEASE CALL" and nothing else. One was from "Unknown" the other was from a 9-digit phone number. They didn't come after calls or voicemails, just out of the blue. Any ideas?

Cell phone carriers now let you text message from their website. In order to let the receiver of the text know who is texting them, you have to fill in the spot that says number or name. Smiling

sounds like cell phone spam. it's a growing problem but since it costs to text/call on mobile devices, it will not get nearly as bad as email spam. call your customer service department of your cellphone provider and request they put a spam block on your mobile device - its a free service they have to provide.

its "text spam" and/or someone texting via a computer because the nine digit number is not from a phone, its from a "computer"

did you try replying?

The only time I ever get texts that say 'please call' with a number attached is usually a page (the option you get if you don't wanna leave a voicemail)... 

but I've never heard of a 9 digit phone number.
