Re: spybot or ad-aware

I have spybot and adware and will be keeping them both. I agree with vash

Re: spybot or ad-aware

i agree with keeping both.  what one misses the other catches.  a few others i keep handi to use also are: spywareblaster, SUPERantispyware, winpatrol, and secunia PSI(rc1).  all of which are freeware.  i like to turn off all auto updating and autostart-up when pc boots.  winpatrols good for that.  and secunia is great it will scan your system for outdated software like java and adobe, etc..

Re: spybot or ad-aware

I think NexusFred said exactly what I was about to say.. Back when I still used a PeeCee with Windows, I always used both.. Run one, then the other.

Of course, now that I have a Mac, i dont have to worry about such silliness and i just USE my computer instead of WORRY about it..

Re: spybot or ad-aware

You almost make me wanna invest my time in creating Mac viruses... just so that you'll have to worry like the rest of us... if only I knew how... or had the time....

The only reason Mac's are said to be uncrashable is because I don't have one yet.

Where are my La-La's at?!

Re: spybot or ad-aware

The only best thing you can do is to keep both Ad-Aware and Spybot, however you should not run both programs at the same time because in that case there can be some false alarm problems, it is, you need to run first Ad-Aware and after you finish with it then run Spybot.

Why do you need both? because one program focus more on some system zones like the registry and the like while the other almost skip them, so using both (never running at the same time) will cover all your system black holes.

Re: spybot or ad-aware

thanks for the advice eveyone,
i think i will keep them all. the only problem is that im very consistant with running those programs to make sure everything is clean but i still have problems... my problems are (while using firefox) i get a pop up that says AcroRdWin has encountered a problem and needs to close. i get it everyday for some reason and none of these programs seem to help. i also get the occasional shut down of firefox when im browsing the internet all my windows will close, as if i had pressed the x to close it...seems a little weeeeird,
if only i had a mac Sad

Agreed. I have both plus CCleaner along with a firewall and AV. You can't be too careful and I would never choose between the two - they both find things the other doesn't.

My advice as well would be to keep both.
