I am: Trying to fix my Windows PC

My computer spec is.
8800gtx
Q6600
2x corsair 2g ram.
a nforce 680i LT sli
and a 500w PSU

i built the computer in october and it worked fine until i moved it till my new house. Where the computer after 10-15 sec shuts off. I look at the motherboard while the computer is on and 3 lights is on. a blue a yellow and a green. and as far as i know the blue tells me that the motherboard is getting power. However when the computer shuts down the blue one is still on while the yellow and the green shuts off. Which tells me the PSU cant be the cause of this or am i wrong? I have tried reconnectin all the power plugs with no luck. Anyone know what the cause of the malfunction is any help is appreciated.

Re: computer shuts off while booting.

if theyre suggestions do not work, i would say boot it from the original MS-DOS startup disk

The only stupid question is the one that remains unasked

Have you tried reinstalling the stock operating system? Or when it goes to the blue screen does it give a specific error message?

Retrospec

Can you tell me who is the manufacturer of the motherboard? nforce is only the chipset. If you can find that out, I would be glad to look up the led readout code for you.

I just recommended the PSU because it is the cheapest and easiest fix.

Hey retrospec!

Sounds like power supply or mainboard. If you have the manual for the mainboard it will tell you what the led's are trying to tell ya. I have lots of spare computer stuff around here and am able to just swap things one at a time until I figure it out. If you have a friend that has one or have one yourself...I would try the power supply. Just because the fan spins does not mean that it is working! Maybe you did what I did when I built my last system. Ok, put this in the duh file.... I accidentally had a standoff for the motherboard in the wrong hole. It was grounding out part of the motherboard. Funny thing....it was very intermittent. Just would touch the wrong spot every once in a while. It wasn't until I decided to take everything out of the case and bench test my system that I found it. Luckily...I didn't damage anything permanently.

try carefully removing and reinstalling the Memory, Gtraphics Card, and anything else that might have jiggled loose from it's slot, Including the CPU if taking out and putting back the  add ons doesn't work (sometimes even CPUs pop loose when moved)

Worse case senerio is that the computer was mishandled in the move and and there might be micro-crack(s) in the motherboard.

How far do you get in booting--what shows on the screen?

Re: computer shuts off while booting.

Well it only last in a set amount of time.

like when i boot i have to press f1 to continue if i just leave it on there it still turns off as if i hit f1 at once, and then it would shut down about before vista started booting up.
