Okay, I've lost count apparently on how many new movies open on Christmas Day. This one, Seven Pounds, was advertised as such. Until I found another site that states it opens tomorrow! Just the website alone was intense. This will be a heart pounding movie. IMBd trailer here.

im a lil behind here but i just watched this last night (late nites/early morning feeding times are a great time for a good movies) and thought it was absolutly wonderful! i had to watch the beginning twice so hubby could catch up and glad i did. i didnt want to miss anything. and i was very proud of myself.... i didnt cry! hormones are raging but i didnt shed a tear!

i caught this movie... i thought it was really awesome. and yah its very endearing at parts and teemed with selflessness. to me it drew parallels with joe black at some points. i loved his aquarium.

the title.. eww!

okay vash. that was a good review. no spoiler. but the part that intrigued me the most was your comment about the title: "eww!"

now when i do see it, i'll be so hung up on the title i'll lose focus on why i am there! j/k.

I saw the movie!! I liked it for the most part. Definitely a tear jerker (in my opinion). Not what i expected...but not sure what i really expected. But its worth watching =)

A friend of mines has somehow already seen this online & in opinion says it's def a 5/5 star movie! Will smith has always been a great actor to me, only movie i can recall that i didn't like was legend of bagger vance i think it was called.

The first thing that came to mind when I saw the name of this movie was "seven pounds of flesh". Then after watching the trailer I was convinced it reminded me of a story I read long ago. What the story was about and what did it have to do with exactly seven pounds of flesh I can't remember for the life of me, so I decided to ask my good friend Google to find out. Problem is he didn't know either... *gasp*

I don't know what it is I'm thinking of, but I know what it's not...

It's not Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice

It's not the everyday saying "A pound of flesh" meaning paying off a debt (although it's probably related)

It's not this movie even though Google tried to convince me otherwise.

And I don't think it has anything to do with a ryhme that goes... "cut not skin, nor fat, nor cartilage, nor bone, but seven pounds of flesh alone."

Although I don't do so that much these day when I was a kid I read a lot of mythology and I'm pretty sure it's one of those old stories that's tugging at the back of my mind. I'm leaning towards one about a knight who accepted a challenge where him and his opponent would take turns chopping off each others heads. The knight got to go 1st, so of course he was sure he'd win. But after taking of the guys head the dude picked it up and put it back on (don't you hate it when that happens). Turns out he was some kind'a magic critter and tricked people out'a their skulls this way. Only when he took his swing at the knight nothing happens because the knight had been given a magic scarf that protected him. I don't remember much of the details though so not sure if it's the right story or not.

So any idea's? Or have I finally gone wacko? Seriously this is driving me nuts.

(Might be an Edger Allan Poe thing too, but I'd think Google would've picked up on that)

it made me think of the Merchant of Venice but since you say that's not the one...

Poe? makes me think of the story "The man that was used up"...about a general who had to be 'reassembled' limb by limb... a line from the story:

There was neither too much flesh, nor too little, — neither rudeness nor fragility.

could that be it? i have a big book of Poe's work i could look thru later...

i'm supposed to go watch this tomorrow...if we don't end up watching something else, i'll post my thoughts on the movie. will smith is always great in his roles. isn't woody harrelson also in this one? he's good too.

ii love will smith too. the last few movies ive seen him in (pusuit of happiness and i am legend) were amazing! havent seen much about this one but it looks like itll be good.

I love Will Smith! I watch all of his movies. I'm def going to go see this tomorrow or saturday! I'm still confused on exactly what's going on...but oh well, I like movies.

Will Smith is a wonderful actor, and I've always liked, if not loved, his movies, so this is definitely one I'm watching.

I read a review that described it as one really long episode of My Name Is Earl. Still, with Will Smith in it I will see it when it comes out on DVD. Dude makes good movies.

after watching both trailers, i can see how one would review it as such. i agree about mr. smith making fantastic movies. just his facial expression on the movie poster reads drama....but in a good way.
