last seen 1 hour 20 min agoThere is this website that charges $6.98 a month for text messaging through your computer. It's an alternative to those who might not be able to have access to your phone. (ex. When you're at work, at school, cheating on your spouse...j/k) The website is: http://www.pombity.com/default.aspx
I'm not really looking forward to paying for these services. So please post any other websites that offer these services for free. (Excluding the ones that provide you SEND text messages for free, post ones that offer BOTH sending and receiving)

Here is a site that pretty much lists all the cell phone carriers and how to send a email text to them. You can open a free gmail type of accout (under any name) and use that to contact them.

aim sends text messages to any phone that has text and picture messaging, it is free, and i use it all the time (this does not work any longer with cricket phones as cricket no longer supports this)

Ur screen name would show up, I would use one of the ones I suggested below, you can put in whatever you'd like as a "from"

Most providers sites have a place where you can text someone one their network for free. and you can always compose an email and send it to "theirphonenumber"@teleflip.com and it will go to their phone. If you go to teleflip.com you can learn more.

*edit, with most of these you can put your email as the "from" number, and all replys will come to your email address
Critterkeeper is right, you can use the cell phone's website to send a text.
I also use a website especially when I need to be reminded of something called http://www.ohdontforget.com/ It sends texts to a phone at the time and date that you want it to.
