Ok so I have the Time warner total package Phone,Tv with I control, and Net we had a problem when they were installation. The problem was the signal from the road (we live down a 200 yard driveway). My problem is we lose our phone all the time and our net because our surfboard resets itself we have had them come out a bunch of times to try to fix this with no sucess. Can anyone tell me what might be wrong?
Thanks Adam

Alive2dive we do have a booster but still have the problem. As for the 4 feet issue they are not 4 feet barly 2 if that I think I may call the nice RR ppl tomarrow mourn b4 school and see if I can get them out here. ( for those woundering yes I am in HS but I take care of the cable, net and phone for the house cause mom and dad see almost no point in it)
Hi Synthetik,
Gosh... sorry your 'rents don't understand the importance of the 'net.
Remember, when dealing with the folks at RR, you have to be firm about getting them on site to troubleshoot the issue.
It didn't even occur to me to ask what type of router you have connected to your modem. Do you have any wifi in your home network configuration?

How close is your cable wire to high voltage wiring? I have road runner & we had a similar problem. When we first installed it, it would have a glitch about every 10 minutes that would knock the internet & tv off. They found that the cable running from the pole was too close to the power line which was causing an unusually high amount of interference. The cable guy said they have to be at least 4 feet away from each other.

I shall contact them about it. Thanks this whole thing is just suck a hassle.
Could be line noise, and they would have to run dBa tests on the line to make sure but they normally don't do that until they have tried everything else
Hey folks,
Foambrush, I'm not a line person, but at 200 yards, wouldn't attenuation in the coax cable be an issue? I wonder if RR needs to add a booster of some type at about the half-way point btwn the boxes (house and road).
The RR folks should be able to determine what level of signal strength your cable box at the house is receiving. The cable going into the DVR or TV runs on a separate line from the modem (internet and VoIP).
Either way, this is most certainly RR's issue to resolve.

No 75ohm cable can carry signals much longer than 200yards with no signal loss,
there are 100 ways signal can degrade and the cable people will only test 1 or 2 at a time then escalate it to someone else,
it took brighthouse 4 months to fix my sisters line and it turned out to be moisture in the little grey box on the side of her house (NID)
Whatever it turns out to be there is probably nothing extra you can do other than maybe move the router to another cable outlet and see if the problems continue
