Recently the sleep/wake button on top of my iphone broke and ive been trying to figure out diffrent ways to restart it. Alot of things on my phone are going wrong that i beleive would be fixed with a simple restart. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just need to turn off my phone without using the top button....
Restarting Iphone Without Using Sleep/Wake Button
well if you're familiar with the command line interface at all then it should be fairl easy to follow these instructions.
When you're in terminal you are going to have to invoke root in order to reboot the phone
To do this you can type "su" which will prompt the phone to ask your for your root password.
password: alpine
once you have logged in as root you can type reboot and the phone will reboot itself.
An easier option is to type "sudo reboot" which would prompt the phone to ask for your password and then run your command as soon as it is entered correctly, but I've just tried this on mine and it doesn't seem to work (it used to I think)
The first fix worked perfectly for me so it should work in your terminal as well depending on your methods of unlocking the device.
I'll check back to see if you've been successful.
