I recently tryed to play a game on my computer and as soon as I did my computer crashed and gave me the blue screen of death. I restarted my computer only to find that every time windows is about to load it gives me the blue screen of death again and restarts. I figured if I reformatted my hard drive everything would be ok. When i put my XP cd into the drive and go into the repair wizard as soon as it starts up I get the blue screen of death. Is there a way for me to reformat my hard drive without using the XP cd or without having to install my hard drive on my second computer?

If you have a floppy drive you can create a boot disc and fdisk to reformat google fdisk for a slew of walkthroughs on how to do it

Safe mode (pressing F8 repeatably on start up until Safe mode option comes up) is a good idea.
With games and this set of symptoms, it sounds like memory might be your problem.
I would first burn the .iso of memtest86+ and boot into that and run. You can get it here.
Scroll down the page - grab the latest .zip and download - burn the ISO file to CD and see if you have a bunch of red errors.
Probably the reason we all go so haywire at Christmas time with the endless unrestrained and often silly buying of gifts is that we don't quite know how to put our love into words. -Harlan Miller
When I start up the computer it goes to the screen saying that windows did not start up properly and gives the options for safe mode and such. No matter what option i choose i get the blue screen of death. The game was Hitman: Contracts from gametap. I talked to their support and they said there was nothing they could do
Reformatting your computer should be the last resort, not the first.. Have you tried booting into Safe-Mode? if that works you might be able to uninstall the offending game or do a system-restore..
i'm curious what this deadly game is, and where you got it?
