Private Profiles

Hey everyone, one quick question. Last night around 1:30am New York time, I was able to view a profile that myspacescrape said was private yet when I went to www.mypace.com/username (the user's ulr), I was able to go into the profile. This morining however, the profile is back to private? Is this because they put it back on private because they tracked me and then put it on private? It confused me because like I said on myspacescrape it said they had zero trackers and the profile was private. There was another user who's profile did the same. It let me in at 1:30am and today it's private and yet, they haven't logged in since yesterday? Could this have been a Myspace error and for some reason allowed me to go into the profiles even thought they were private?

My last question is, I have installed Firefoz and followed the adblockplus filter. However, my question is, all I have to do now to ensure I'm not tracked is go to Myspace through Firefox? HELP!

I could be way off but myspace was doing some scheduled maintenace around 1 or 2 on blogs so it maybe possible you just lucked into some glitch.

If a profile is marked to be viewed by age 18+, you can't view it unless you're logged in, MySpace needs to know that you're over 18.  So, if you weren't logged in, the page would appear "Private", and then when you log in, it's suddenly public.

Yes if you have installed Firefox and adblock along with importing all of the filters then yes you will not be tracked. But YES you do need to be in Firefox. If you are really worried you can use a proxy to view the myspace in so that it is tracked to a different IP addy.

Thank you but, what exacly is a Proxy? and do you think that being able to view these profiles at 2am and now are back on private be a myspace error? Because one of the profiles that were marked private on mysapcescrapes said private yet I was able to view it at 2am and this morning it's private even though the person has not yet loggedin?

A proxy is where you go to a web site and log in to myspace via there servers so that if you are tracked it shows the IP of the server and not your IP.  Here are some proxys:

Is there an ANONYMOUS PROXY that you can log into Myspace with?

Thanks sound good but I have to pay Sad. Any free proxy checks?

One last question, why would myspacescrapes show the profile as private, even though I was loggin to myspace and was able to see it at 2am this morning but then today it's on private through myspace. Could this have been an error?

The proxys are free.

ALL profiles that are marked 18+ will show up on myspacescrapes  as private regardless if you are logged in or not.  It's just that way that there program is setup.

Were you logged in last night (into your myspace) and not this morning?  See if you mark your profile as 18+ than the person viewing you needs to be logged in.  Also myspacescrape will show those profiles as "private".  Just at thought...

Thanks for responding. But I'm not sure I follow you with the 18+ instructions what do you mean by this? Also, actually, I was not logged in this morning. What confused me is that one of the users who's profile was on viweable at 2am, yet has not logged in today, was suddenly on private. Finally, if the myspacescape say there are no trackers found is that really accurate?

In your privacy settings on myspace you can choose 18+. That way it forces ppl to be logged into view your profile. As for myspacescape - it would only be able to tell you if they had one in there headline. What you can do is view there source code and look for a tracker. If your in Firefox just go to the profile (logged in) and right click on it and choose "View Page Source" it will then open another window and allow you to view all of there codes on there profile. You would have to search though there codes to see if you can spot a tracker in them.

edit:  If they choose 18+ and you are not logged in then the profile will look as if it is set to private

Hey, I found it!

they all have this "urchintracker" but how can I make sure that when I use Firefox, i wont get tracked? I read the track adblock list file and I don't see urchintracker on it? HELP! I'm mortified that these people KNOW i'm tracking them!! UGH! Sad

Every profile will have urchintracker - that is myspace and not the persons profile tracker. So no need to worry about that one. Glad to see you looking see you learn something every day Eye-wink

Well the profile is marked private and I am signed in (and over the age of 18).  She has no tracker in the headline which is the only place she could put it to track you viewing the "This profile is set to private. This user must add you as a friend to see his/her profile.".  Now whether or not she has them inside the profile I have no idea since I can't view the source code of the profile only the private page.  Hope that helps you some.

Actually, disregard that last message? Can you tell me if this is a tracker: MySpace.CMS.track. I found that code in her script? but I don't see it in the abblock file? Is this a tracker?

It doesn't say if it's a tracker or not,  but I just changed the subject on here, maybe BottleBob can take a look at it.

REALLY? Oh my gawd, you're a doll! I can feel a little better now. I'm still worried though cause her profile is now set to private and I'm pretty sure this is because she tracked me. But I've looked through her codes and can't find anyting? Am I missing something? Could I trouble you to look through the script just in case I've missed something? A PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE?
