I had a challenging time deciding whether or not to post this in the Tattoo forum, or Lifestyle. Since one is a subcategory of the other, I landed here! So, what woman wouldn't love or appreciate the thought of not having to reapply make-up every day? Permanent make-up. It's not for everyone. I am considering it however. A friend of mine just had her eyeliner done. Looks marvelous. This particular friend is a 66 year old So.Cal girl and has always been on the cutting edge of fashion. When I saw her eyes this past weekend, I thought to myself, "Hey, I want that!" Next month she is having her eyebrows done. Mine are so dark brown they are nearly black so I know that procedure is not for me. My nail tech has had her eyebrows done for 35 years, she is Vietnamese and this is a normal thing in her country. Mini me's eyebrows are transparent! Something she may consider when she is older, much older. The eyeliner technique took 4 hours for both eyes. She will undergo two more applications before it is done and lasts up to 10-years at a total of $275. Not a bad investment if you ask me.
Has any GuG family member had the procedure or any permanent makeup done?

My mother was considering this, and I talked her out of it, though I'm not sure I should have. I think it all depends on how okay you are with having something tattooed permanently on your face, though to my knowledge these are designed to fade after a number of years. I actually think people can look great with no makeup at all - nothing on their eyes, brows, and especially not on their mouths - so long as their skin looks clear and healthy. It'd suck not to be able to wash off your makeup when you feel like looking 'fresh' or un-made-up, but then again I suppose that's not a concern for somebody who'd like permanent make-up. The brows and even the eyeliner seem like good options to go with if you wear eye make-up frequently, but I'd steer clear from the lipliner...it has so much potential to look ridiculous, especially if you end up smudging off your lipstick, eating out, etc., or if you just want to put on lip balm and leave the house.
I say go for it! I am a makeup artist and have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly! Regardless of what my opinion may have been about their procedures, each and everyone of them loved their look.(which is all that matters, right?) Just like any other cosmetic procedure: do your research, locate the best artist in your area, and look at their portfolio...if you like what you see, then do-it-to-it!
I have seen some terrible results from this. Just bad, bad, bad. I personally like to switch up my makeup so this is definitely not for me. Just be sure to do LOTS of research if you ever decide to really do it.
Hi Hot2na~
I'm from So Cal also and am looking into permanent eyeliner. Would you be so kind as to tell me who did your friend's eyes? I'd appreciate the recommendation.
hey there KimberlyP. the eyes were actually done in gold canyon, arizona. sorry. i don't know enough about so cal to recommend anyone there. however, we have a lot of so cal members that may respond. you can also ask PinkyV02 in her cali girls thread here.

I wouldn't do it... only because I like to play with my makeup too much... so it just wouldn't be for me...
besides, I think it's just a tad creepy... then again I've seen some bad permanent makeup before... *shudders*
But on the other side, the eyebrows don't seem that bad... as long as you have eyebrows to begin with (the sharpie look was never in, and never will be)..... but, back to me being me, I like to change my hair color too much to make my eyebrows one color for the rest of my life (yes if I make a significant change in haircolor, I'll dye my eyebrows too... red hair and blonde eyebrows is just a no no)
Yeah I agree my one son's teacher had hers done (eyeliner). We use to chat often and she was so excited when she had it done. I remember her asking me "what do you think" and I so had to lie. She looked like she was attacked by little kids with sharpies. It was very harsh looking, way to dark and just looked bad. Now granted I have seen some that looks good but my luck I would get the bad one. Plus like you Anime I like to change it up some. I'm also one that spends a whole 5 min. putting on makeup so ehhh I think I'll keep it that way.
I don't think I can even consider this. I mean I like going days without makeup sometimes. And I'm also changing it up when I do wear makeup. This is not for everyone, what if I looked creepy afterwards, like some wannabe rockster. Oh, the thought!

You're upsetting me....on several levels.
-I am The Phoenix that rises again.
-I am The Oasis in this dry world.
i've noticed it on many women lately. both thick cleopatra style and very thin as almost not noticeable. the thinner looked better. however, i do love the dramatic dark smoky eye affect for an evening dinner/club look.

lol...see what I mean. Both looks can be very nice. How can you just choose one to be stuck on forever (or 10 years).

Ya think Carrot Top had this done?
i do, actually.

I would afraid to do it, because my tastes change, and God forbid it came out bad I would be stuck with it.
i'm really struggling with it. i love to run around town with no makeup, hair pulled back, visor on, and gym shorts/shirt. having to do this with permanent eyeliner will throw off my au'naturale look and make it an awe'ful incomplete look!

It is really a great investment and I have considered it, but Im not certain yet.
i'm relatively certain the lip liner technique is not for me. i would consider tinting the lips, but having just the liner looks incomplete to me.

Several years ago, I was working as a waitress in a local luncheonette. There were 2 Spanish women who worked in the kitchen, and they went one day after work together to get their eyebrows done. They both looked great! Thing was, it was August, and, well, it's hot in Jersey in August, and even hotter if you work in a kitchen. Sweat hurts in an open wound, and a fresh tattoo is essentially just that, an open wound. I felt so bad for the 2 of them, all sorts of "ai yi yiii!!!" coming from the kitchen for about 2 weeks while they healed up. Then again, not too bad, they could have gone in December......

And we've got to get ourselves back to the garden"
I have thought about applying permanent eyeliner but I don't know....kinda scary...I've seen some people with permanent make-up and it looks really good..... But hey, if you're down for it, got for it!
The closest I have is semi permanent, with my tinting (dyeing) of my eyelashes. Which as I've proclaimed before, is the BEST thing in the world... No more mascara for me! They also do eyebrows, which could be a thought for mini-me before she's "much older"!
Be yourself...... Everyone else is taken!
