How do you know?
Also, I've heard that there is a way to tell if the person is logged in or logged out. Where can you find that on 'View Page Source'? Can I hide that info on mine?
Thanks in advance.
Where on 'View Page Source' can I find out if a myspace page has a tracker (Private and public)?

Where on 'View Page Source' can I find out if a myspace page has a tracker (Private and public)?

Thank you so much. You two are great!
If the profile is not set to private or 18+ you can run it though HITS and it will scan it for you. If the profile is set to private or 18+ then it will not be able to scan it (HITS) and you have to check the source codes. There is no one area that you will find the trackers as they can be placed anywhere. You just have slowly scan it looking for them. Print out a copy of the list of trackers and scan away. Here is a screen shot of a source code (haha only part of one as they can be large) with a tracker on it - just to give you a idea.
As for can you hide it on your view source - no if its on your profile it will show up on the view source.
I have a tracker on myspace, and I know they say for an "extra" fee, they could sent you a tracker without the image code so that I guess you could track in "stealth" mode!!! Well, if you just take the code snippet they give you for free, but delete the portion where Smartmom listed above, beginning with img src=xxxxxxxx.bmp, or .gif or .tif This is where all the trackers post their tracking image on your myspace. By deleting this string, but keeping the rest of the code, you can post the code anywhere in your myspace and track ppl without anyone knowing about it.
I have no idea if that's what people are asking, just an FYI if you don't want to pay a charge for the same exact code without the tracking image!

I can tell you that all of the codes I use are "stealth" and hidden but you can still see them in the view source. The view source will show all codes - no way to get around that.
I dont know how you can delete part of the string and still get it to work - that string is what is needed to make it work - that is the tracker. Now can you do a tracker that is hard to find or not on the list (make your own tracker) yes but that takes some work.
It's hard for me to interpret what should be there or not, but I thank you very much! (I'm trying to learn as much as I can) The profile I wanted to know about is Private. I heard somewhere that if your profile is private, the only place you could put a tracker is in the headline (if you are trying to track non friends) Is this true? I ran my profile that is set to private through the Scan and the image code that I have in my headline showed up. Would it show any code in the headline, other than the quote?
Again Thank You so much!!
Hi Smartmom, currently I use Myspacelog.com, but have used others in the past. Each time, I get the free code, I just delete the string as listed above, that string is the image code. Otherwise, the tracker still works (well, as best as a tracker can work!), just without the image of the tracker.
Some tracker sites give you a code for two images. One that is the actual tracker image and one that is a banner image. You can remove the code for the banner and it will still work. The code in smartmom's example only has a tracker image so if you remove that it'll stop tracking.
Yes, private profiles can only track you if they have a tracker in the headline.
Check out www.myspacescrape.com and you can enter the profile you are wondering about and it will check it for you- so you dont have to worry about trying to find them on your own.
