no calculator??? no.. .wordpad???

Quite a while ago I had work done on my computer. Those of you who are the wind beneath my wings in helping with my WGA nightmare (Ashton) might recall I had some problems with that. I got a whole new version of Windows XP (home vs. pro)... that came up as unauthorized but isn't. Allegedly. But to the point:

There were a couple little things he didn't reinstall. I went to the "Add/Remove Windows Components" and put them back.

Today I realized there's no Wordpad under "Accessories" (I'm a notepad gal, but need text formatting notepad won't do) so I tried to add it under the Add/Remove and it isn't there. But I did find calculator (that's right, I don't have one), Paint (useless 99% of the time but you never know when that 1% will pop up) and other stuff. When I tried installing these, I got a popup message saying I need the Windows XP CD (which I don't have).

So one, is there a teeny footprint calculator anyone can recommend?

And two, how do I get wordpad pack?

What happens when you click start, then run. Type in "wordpad" without the ""? Try the same with "calc"

windows cannot find 'wordpad' yadda yadda
(I didn't use quotes)

same with calc

I thought it was odd neither came up in the add/remove windows components. I was a good girl first and googled "reinstall wordpad" and variations thereof and each tutorial showed a lot more stuff in add/remove windows components than I have. I could get solitaire back if I wanted it, but no useful stuff.

Odd.

Check out the add ons you can get here:

Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP

besides a power calculator they have some other cool features you can get (FREE). I love the image resize - I use it all the time!

That's a good idea, thanks smartmom! I've had quite a few of those over the years, may as well see what they have to offer now. It's been years since I've sniffed around there.

Here's a freeware version that looks similar:

I just added a side bar to my Xp and added calculator to it. It sits in the side bar the whole time.
