last seen 44 weeks 2 days agoSo I just noticed that MySpace FINALLY implemented the Photo Albums (the same ones they said they'd have done in about a week back around when they started allowing 300 photos).
Anyways, the glitches are already evident. I went to my friend's page (hasn't noticed the new albums yet), so of course, by default, her pics only have the My Photos album. If I click on "View Albums", it shows the Album and claims that she has 61 pics. I click on her album and it says "Invalid Album ID". So I go back to her page and just go to her pics like normal. In REALITY, she has 58 pics. Her pic page says "Displaying 1-20 out of 56"...I go to page 3 and it says "Displaying 41-57 of 57" (notice how it mysteriously added a pic from the page 1 version). So I exit out of the pics page and go back in, and THIS time it correctly says "Displaynig 1-20 out of 58".
So...let's count 'em: album displays wrong number of pics (61) in album mode, album incorrectly says Invalid ID, Page 1 shows incorrect number of pics, Page 3 shows incorrect number of pics, inconsitency between number of pics. Wow...that's 5 glitches that I see right off the bat...this is going to be fun.
I'm kinda interested to try these new photo albums out, but think I may wait a little longer to see what happens. Does anyone know how the albums affect your Myspace slideshow? Do you have to make a new one and pick and choose what pics you want on it; or does it stay unchanged, which as far as mine goes just shows them all in order?
It appears you have the option of all photos or pulling from a single album. So like on mine I have split it up into three albums. If I had photos in separate albums they wouldn't be in the same slide show. I don't have a slide show now so i don't know if splitting them into different albums would mess up an existing slide show. What I would do is create a slide show album, re-upload the photos as copies into that album and then check it to be seen by you only. Then try to use is as a slide show. I made one of mine private and it still offered it to me in the slide show options.

It checked out my profile using a different myspace account, and under my pics the slideshow album doesn't show up cause I checked it "viewable only by me". So that works like it's supposed to.
But now that defeats the purpose of having a slideshow album in the first place, because every other user but myself can't see the pics on it. So naturally, they don't show up in the slideshow either, like I was hoping they might.
Over a day later and I still can't change the slideshow settings to be absolutely sure about all this. I hate myspace. Too hard to get everything the way you want it...
Thanks for some ideas. I just have to think about what I really want... Having the pics from my slideshow in a private album may be funny, if for no other reason than to make people wonder where they are...
Well you can upload them to their regular albums, then upload copies to the private slideshow album. You'll double up but since one is private no one will know you uploaded them twice. Then when you create the slide show you only pull from the private album. You'll have the slide show you want but can still split the photos up into separate albums. I hope this makes as much sense as it does inside my head.

So I finally went to the trouble, and now I can't change the slideshow settings cause of the typical Myspace glitches... Do you know what I would change in the code to direct the slideshow to only pull pics from the new folder?
Worse case scenario is that I wait a day or two, when this will be fixed and the glitch will be something else...
Well have you tried removing the code and then remaking the slideshow? Try to replace the album id. Go to your albums and right click the album you want. Copy link location. Paste into word or whatever. Find album id. That's your guy. I don't know if that will work. I'd probably just remove the old code all together and make a new slide show. But then again I don't have a slide show. hope that helps.

It's hard to see what I need to change exactly. I was going to just re-make the damn thing, but it won't let me, keeps popping up to the "Error had been reported page". Also the actual page for creating the slideshows is different, the new options are gone (You could change the size and colors). I can wait a bit till they fix whatever they need to fix.

Yeah it finally hit me to look at your page source and see if the codes are the same and they seem to be a good bit different. I'd say start over. I don't think you can just swap a code. Sorry.

I'm looking at the options, I see the slideshow has a lot more controls than it used to. I guess a better question would be "Does it actually work like it's supposed to?"

So I just went in and successfully created new photo albums. Moved the photos I wanted moved. Now it tells me to click "arrange" to choose my album cover. Funny thing about that is there is no "arrange".

I think I remember reading a bulletin by "Tom" that the arrange and multiple photo uploader options would be up in like a week or something.
That's odd because I had an Arrange just the other day, even AFTER Tom said it would be added later. They must've removed it again.
Yeah, I seem to remember having arrange after they took away photo albums. But it was only for like a day. I didn't try to use it.

That kind of pisses me off because I was one of the FEW people who was actually able to get my albums to work normally. I guess "Tom" finally realized that a little software testing is necessary before releasing new features to the public.
I'm with you on that. My was working fine too. I liked what somebody said before in a forum give it to a couple of hundred people to test out not millions.
Alright, so I just looked at my pics on my profile and my pics are all messed up...there are not in the order that I uploaded them! WTF????? I never understand why they don't release these new things to a few hundred peeps and then fix all the glitches before releasing them to the millions of users!
BTW Ang & Miss....I'm so crossing my fingers for that URL glitch, maybe if we all hope for this it will come in due time?????

Oh nooooooooooo...I take the cake for that one on the URL thing!!! You know how you get your "pornstar" name by taking your first pet, street you lived on, or whatever to get your first name, and then taking your first highschool, sock brand etc etc etc to get your last name? Ya well, apparently one night while all my friends were in attendance at a bar or something someone blurted out that basically my name already sounded like a "pornstar" name...so ya, I went ahead and put that on my URL!!! First & last name plus the word "pornstar" and now it's always fun explaining it to people who see it! I actually take it as a compliment, but my recently my stalker has dubbed me as a "person who has no class" because of it!

Yes, like most of you guys, I already have run into the new glitches! What a joy!!! Why can't they just leave well enough alone, however, then that would be way too easy. Too dang bad there isn't a URL glitch....LOL

I'm glad they're trying to add new features, but they just can never get it right. Facebook never seems to have ANY glitches at all. They also have that stupid "Cover Picture" for the albums that most of the time, you can't even use the entire picture; you have to crop it in some odd way because they FORCE you to crop it unless it's the right shape/size.
Another thing that was screwed up earlier was you can put one of your pics as the cover of your photo album, but each time I would choose the pic, and 'save', I would get that friggin 'unexpected error" myspace crap....i tried three times and gave up...now I am playing around trying to see if I can view private pages albums.....hopefully someone will figure it out before myspace does and fixes it.....
Everything is fine so far. It just sux that I downloaded over a hundred pictures and now they have a downloader to do multiply pictures at a time. lol
Hahahaha, I feel your pain samantha, I too downloaded over 100 pics one by one!! Oh well, I'm glad they finally did it though.

Ok, so I got all my photos now under my main photo album. That was annoying. Now there in a weird order. I can't wait for it to be ready so I can rearrange the photos to my liking.

I was wondering what you were talking about so I went & looked. Looks like we can keep everything as view all photo's as well. So I think I will keep it that way until the glitches stop. Thanks for the info, i would have never known!

We're in the process of rolling out those photo albums I mentioned awhile back. The photos you currently have uploaded should appear in your "my photos" album, but for some people this is not working right. don't worry you haven't lost your photos.. we're just workin out some bugs. photo upload should be back in business now also, check out then multi-photo uploader!

Yeah, I was just about to post on this. These changes are coming rapidly aren't they? Now I can't edit my images! Thank goodness I just uploaded some new pics yesterday because who knows how screwy this is going to get!
I made the mistake of beginning the process of arranging my photo albums. I really, really wish I didn't. It's so messed up right now. I can't get over half my pictures into the album yet. I keep getting the unexpected error message. Awesome!!! If you haven't done your photo album, don't. Wait a while.
