New Myspace "Profile Counter" tracker
Submitted by sugarfly on March 27, 2008 - 9:28pm.
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=352575956 I saw someone asking how to block this in another thread, but I haven't seen much on how/if it works. I've been playing around with it a bit and here's what I can tell you: 1. It seems to only work if you keep the "view on profile" feature checked. If you opt to only show it on your homepage, it doesn't track anyone. 2. It doesn't give you date or time people visited, but it does take you directly to the person's profile page! So far it's completely accurate, meaning it didn't take me to the wrong person's profile. How do I know this you ask? Well my fakespace guy requested 5 people who were "online now." All 5 went to check out my fakespace before accepting. They all were tracked immediately! The strange thing is that an hour later when I clicked on their profiles through my tracker again, one had deleted her profile!! Very odd....maybe she didn't like seeing herself tracked, oh well! which leads me to #3.... 3. The people viewing your profile remain on your profile page. It tells the world "who recently visited your page". It does not tell you how many times, nor does it change in ranking. Their profile pic (or link) just remains in one spot. Your list of visitors just kinda grows. 4. This "counter" doesn't work if your profile is set to private. I'm trying to lure someone in so I can get her myspace ID, so I hid my comments & friends, set all my pictures to private, and will make my profile public for a couple of days. Just long enough to catch my stalker!
Maybe someone can figure out a way to use this application to figure out new codes.....

Ok, i tried another app and it's also hosted on api.msappspace.com so that's most likely a domain owned by myspace and is probably used for all apps. Which means that blocking the domain blocks all apps. So i'm taking that filter from the list. I've tried to find distinguishing characteristics of the counter and it seems to use the domain funsk.com which is a facebook apps site. I don't even know if blocking it will take out the tracker but blocking the funsk.com site will block anything on there, so people with facebook who want to use that site might not want to block it. Basically, to block it and not block other apps use the other method: go to the page of the app, click "report this app" and then "block profile counter".
