I've stopped using it. For one because every time I use it with no more than three tabs open it slows to a crawl. I can open Firefox and zip right through what I need to do so why would I suffer through a crashing browser. I really wanted to like Chrome but it's done for me. I will uninstall it. Maybe when it comes out of Beta I'll give it another try but I don't see any browser toppling Firefox from the top of my list.

I second that. It just doesn't have the speed the new Firefox does.

It is similar to Firefox, having mozilla, among other things, under it's hood.
A neat thing about it is, if you insert about:memory into the address bar it gives you statistics of the memory usage of each thing it is doing. It also has most of the same about: options as firefox such as about:config.
It also has a "incognito" mode that allows one to browse without leaving traces on the pc they are using similar to the browse in private feature found in Internet Explorer 8.
Chrome is actually based on "WebKit", which is not Mozilla/Firefox - it's the same thing that Apple's Safari web browser is built on. Safari is the browser that ships with OS X and iPhones. So it's really closer to the Mac browser than Firefox... so, it's got to be good
Umm it does also have Mozilla in it.
From the about google chrome screen it has: Official Build 1798
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US) AppleWebKit/525.13 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/0.2.149.29 Safari/525.13
I downloaded it last night and played with it for just a few seconds... I liked what I saw.

It ended up slowing to a crawl yesterday and I gave up on it. I had 3 tabs open. I'll try it again tonight.

Google has a blog on it here (for more info)
What is it exactly?

It is a web browser like Firefox. It will import your bookmarks from Firefox. Once you have let it do that on the far left top side is a wrench. Click it then click show bookmark toolbar. Now you can drag you Firefox bookmarks to the toolbar to launch them from there. I have my bookmarks in folders, ie "everyday", "nerding out", "skateboarding". I just drug the whole folder there and now when I click it out pops my bookmarks. It's a lot of work to have them front and center but it's easy enough.
When you open a new tab it shows you history in large thumbnails. Kinda cool. There is an option under tools to delete all your private info as it is not yet supported by Ccleaner. (at least not that I could tell).
Still missing Adblock but I've been using it since I dl it and I like it.
The address bar is a "psychic bar" (damn it no spell check! yet) so you can put in addresses or use it to search google.
