On the street that I live on parking is kinda tuff.. we all barely fit.. my neighbors around my house are very friendly except for an old couple that live right next to the house that’s right across from me… (I hope your still with me here.. lol) any who.. these neighbors are really mean and rude to all of us… They come and yell at you if you park in front of your house even though the street it PUBLIC PARKING. Oh and they even call the cops on us if we park there (weird) So what they’ll do so no one parks there is park their car right in the middle of the sidewalk (2 car parking space) so no other car can fit… and even though we’ve asked nicely soo many times to scoot their car over just a tiny lil bit they’ve never cooperated with us.. So okay we usually try to ignore them.. So three weeks ago their neighbor (the guy right across the street from us) got a letter from the city letting them know that Mr. grumpy & mrs. Grumpy have requested to make the parking in front of their house handicapped. & if they didn’t agree they were more than welcome to come to the city meeting and discuss it. So the neighbors told all of us (the other neighbors) and of course we all figured they just didn’t want anyone parking in their space.. so of course we went to the city meeting.. and the look on her face was priceless since she thought we weren’t going to show up.. lol.. we were quite a few actually.. Well we each gave our points on why were against the handicapped parking… one being that they have TWO garages in the back.. and a driveway.. The city council couldn’t make a desition so we were asked to come back with more evidence from both parties..

There's something about other people's lives and drama that is so fascinating.... maybe that's why I'm so addicted to gossip websites!
No drama with the neighbors here... but I live in TX and we live in a really nice area and I never see my neighbors. I wish I had some fun ones like when I was a kid!
We had the crazy cat lady that had 35 cats and would bake whole turkeys for her cats and put the turkeys on her porch and my dad would have to go over and throw them away before the raccoons infested the area, we had the two couples that switched wives all the time, we had the neighbors right next to us that my dad HATED and would get into lawn fights about whose lawn could look better and spend endless time plucking and wedding and planting, etc over their yards, we had the lady that gossiped, we had all the characters.
Now, it's like I could live in the middle of now where. I don't see anyone. (I live in a subdivision, still... no one, no kids NOTHING) It's eery actually. We were talking about the other day. We were talking about if we have kids if we would stay here and I said I would want to move, there's no neighbors for them to play with...
Hope everything goes good!
okay heres what i got so far..
1. yes my neighbor did record her sister getting all crazy on him. lol.
2. its a single home residence and they DO have a driveway (and 2 garages) BUT according to some diabled law driveway must be at least a certain width. which is not...
3. Im collecting pitures of the street on regular days to show that there isint any parking.. and that if they were to approve the handicapped parking it will make matters worse.
and you do need a handicapped plate to apply for a handicapped parking, which they just got that plate not long ago.. Im still doing my research on the municipial codes n stuff.. oh yeah did i mention her son works for the city.. lol..
.Live. .Love. .Laugh.
neighbor drama. almost the worst kind because you have to see them nearly everyday.
Tuna ><(((( '> the other white meat!
Law vary from state to state, since your state's equivalent of the Division of Motor Vehicles is in control of handicapped placards and plates. My father is currently going through the application process here in Jersey. Included in the application for the placard were some guidelines for applying for his own space. It said right in the paperwork that if you own a single family home with a driveway, you will not be approved for your own space. So, even if Dad wanted a spot in front of his house, he wouldn't be approved for it. If it were a 2 family house, he could say he rents out the driveway to the tenant, and therefore needs the space in front for himself. You didn't mention the Grump's home being one or 2 family, but here, it can make the difference between getting the spot or not.
I'd take a picture of the side of their house with the driveway, and if you can, sneak up and get a pic of the garage itself. If you think sneaking up the Grump's driveway to get a pic would cause trouble, I'm sure the neighbors on either side of them would let a picture be taken from their yard, just make sure whomever is approving this space (City Council?) gets a really good view of the Grump's other parking alternatives.

And we've got to get ourselves back to the garden"
Maybe you should also take pictures of the garages and driveway to better illustrate your point on how they don't need the handicap parking. I don't see why they're being such jerks. As long as you're not blocking the driveway, I don't see the big deal. Here in New York it's first come first serve, and you're a better person going the legal way with this, b/c I think on my block those neighbors would have woke up with broken windows and flat tires.....lol.
The Truth Is Out There. Trust No One! Deny Everything!
You're upsetting me....on several levels.
I say park your car (legally) on the street (or wherever pisses them off... hell... park on the street in front of THEIR house (I think that's still legal... right?)... video tape the neighbors coming out and harassing you... okay, maybe parking in front of their house, legal or not, would make you look bad... so do it in front of your own house lol...
I don't know if it'll do any good... but it might make them look like they only want the handicap parking for nothing other than being the grumps that they are...
I don't see how they could get handicap parking without some sort of handicap parking permit (like the little blue thing that hangs on the mirror or the license plates or whatever)......... but maybe they have these things, or qualify for them for all we know...
If they come onto your property for any reason, tell them to get off and not trespass again... I don't know about your state, but where I live, that's legally binding if you tell them to stay off of your property... I would again video tape this (or at least voice record)..... and if they come back on, record that too... again, I live in a different state so laws may vary...
I also suggest if they even park the least bit illegally, have them towed...
if all else fails, look up your laws... see if you can qualify for handicap parking and get your own spot
....
la la la... I'm just kinda rambling... I don't know if any of that info would help, but maybe it'll spark an idea in someone more knowledgeable.. I don't quite understand your situation very clearly (I would need to see visuals)..... so... *shrugs*...
I'm sorry you are having troubles. And I have no solution for you. I have my own neighbor problems right now and it's pretty difficult for me to fix since all of the guys work in the DA's office here.
I've lost count of how many are living there, but last count was 6 cars, (they only have room for 2 cars) and every one of them uses the '*#'/@ horn' to unlock their vehicles in the morning, when they come home at lunch, when they leave after lunch to go back to work, when they get home after work, and of course when they come and go at all hours of the night. And when they are drunk, it's just worse.
They have lost sight of the property line and where they can park. Oddly enough, when I call the police, they are more than happy, (in fact, they grin from ear to ear) to suggest to me that I call a tow truck. Our city is not happy with the drinking habits of this office at the moment.
I am curious, though, how it works out for you. It would seem to me that if they have parking spaces via garage, etc., that they should be made to use it. After all, one who needs handicapped parking, needs to park closer, and well......let's just say that the garage is closer than the street!
I have a handicap placard myself. I only use it when I have to. Otherwise, you will see me walking half a mile or better through the parking lot to save that space for someone who needs it that day.

Nothing has happened to me like that, but I'm sorry that has happened to you, that really blows and having neighbors that don't cooperate doesn't help any...just remember KARMA!! I hope things work out for your advantage, keep us posted Pinky, *hugs*.
