How is this done http://www.myspace.com/djmikeybo I love the way this site is done I am a web designer and here my myspace http://myspace.com/deonya I know how to make div overlays but it doesn't seem to work well on music accounts. I want to create a layout for a friends music account but I can't find any info on coding for a music layout like that done on DJ mikebo's layout. This is a link to that layout I plan to use if I can figure this out I did all the design work and photos but now I am stuff on coding http://www.deonya.com/111/portfolio_doc/ability.jpg.

I know I'm Late, but it seems like nobody else has found anything yet, so here ya go. http://views-under-construction.blogspot.com/2006/02/myspace-simple-band-div-overlay.html
hope this helps, it helped me a lot but im looking for something else! i need a top of the page banner code!!
When someone gets this figured out...I'm all eyes.
Hey im new to the band div layouts ive got no idea where to start im not bad with the normal layouts the bands just confuse me really need help im good with photoshop if any1 needs anything plzz help thanks mwah xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I do band profiles too and have just recently agreed (yikes!) to attempt a .div.
The vast majority of help links I have bookmarked are right inside the myspace forums. On the myspace nav bar, click Forums, scroll down to the Myspace topic and click on "customizing".
Try searching that forum for various keywords to see what comes up. A lot will, and google can also provide links to the generators too, if you want to try that route. Just make sure to specify each search by adding "band" to it, otherwise you'll get codes and tutorials for regular profile divs and that won't work.
It's confusing, but within the next month I'll be tackling it myself. Maybe then I can provide some real assistance! Ha. Good luck!
Your girlfriend isn't real if her name ends in ".jpg"
How about this?

You are my friggen hero. How did you find that? stuff, just what I needed. Many thanks to you and Dave sirs.
Man, I just stumble onto things and bookmark anything that looks interesting. If I think I might want to look at again in the next year I'll just bookmark it. And I'm a google pro, hahaha, or a google dork whichever.

Likewise, I guess I just have trouble finding the stuff I really need, haha. Google pro indeed! Anyway, many thanks again.

I do that too. Although I am wondering why I would ever want a "Save Harold the Hamster" flash game or an online handwriting analysis that uses an example you write with your mouse. But you never know...
All hail the bookmark packrats! ;-)
Here is what I have figured out so far. What you would put in the About Me section of a normal profile, goes in Bio and what you would put in the I'd Like to Meet in the normal goes in the Influences. I haven't had much time to tinker with much else yet. I'll try and mess with a bit more tonight to see what I can come up with.
I managed to copy my normal profile into a music one using that and it works just fine. I'll work on a new one now.....

Awesome man, that's a good start at least. I'll have a fiddle with it myself and see if I can't work out the calender and music player.
Hi.
Has anyone figured this out yet, or found a resource that has the code for a Music Profile div layout? Preferably one that has options to show friends, comments, calender, and the music player, but that's all.
I've designed 3 or 4 regular profiles and I keep getting requests for music profiles, but I can't find a working code anywhere. Any help is appreciated.
this might work .......
Moderator note: I edited your playlist here on this post so that it would not auto play.
Thanks Oldsspice!
But this discussion was about myspace band profiles and how to create one using a div overlay. Just in case, a div overlay essentially uses code to completely strip or hide a profile page so that content can be customized even further than what the normal myspace codes allow.
Any reference in this thread to a "music player" refers to the music player you see on myspace band profiles where you can listen to the music of the band whose profile you're on.
By implementing a div overlay, all content including the band profile music player is removed, so it has to be replaced back into the profile.
Whew. So that was the long way of saying a player like the one you posted wouldn't work in this case. When a band uploads their music onto the myspace player, each play of each song is counted. It also enables fans to add one of the songs to their own profiles, download the song and see the lyrics in some cases.
So a player like the one you posted might be useful for a personal profile if the user wants to share several songs, but if a band wants to use myspace as a marketing tool in any way, they need to use the myspace music player and upload the tracks through their profile.
Now lets see about putting the player in there and what it does.

Yeppers. Getting that darn player to work right and IN there is what always made me give up on a .div for a band.
Even finding a band .div being used by someone else and copying the source then changing and hosting images myself never quite turned out right.
You're getting there, Dave!
Fondly,
your stalker
Couldn't you copy the source code for the bands player and add it to the div content? You could put it where ever you wanted. Since the player belongs to the actual band and it's going back into their profile that shouldn't cause ant TOS problems.
"I'm just like you only shorter."
Well, I've invested approximately 45 minutes into it, so I should be able to figure it out soon.
And you know how much it warms my heart you are keeping tabs on me darling!

Being the geek I am, I have to admit that any guy who can do a (oooh) .div overlay (ahhh) for a (mmmm) band myspace is pretty hot in my book.
If I were a peacock, I'd be way impressed by those feathers.
I'm a Dave Smooth groupie.
A Smooth-ette? Smoothie?
Yeah. I'm a Smoothie. I know I'm not the only one here, either.
Well, thank you. But lets try and keep this on topic. I'm going to work on placement of the player next, and once I get everything worked out, the code will be for the asking. And of course, my help too.
elle...you get my special help of course!

Now that SCREWED things up! hahaha....guess the next trick will be moving the player around....

OK, I'm starting to figure it out. At least I'm making some progress. And I've got it pretty much figured out now....damn, that was a long half hour or so! hahaha Still, that mikeybo profile has me intrigued. That thing must have so many div's!! I must figure it out.

OK, I'm learning Music profiles are much harder to put a div overlay on. But in about 5 minutes, I got this.

I'll keep working on it and figure out how they did that mikeybo one.

Whew. I'm relieved you find it a challenge, Dave. Had you nailed it in two seconds, I would know for sure I am not quite as adept as I thought. But if THE Dave Smooth finds it more difficult too...
So thank you for validating my skills...lol.
I'll add you to favorites so I can check your progress.
LOL...yea, its definitely more of a challenge. Not even sure where to put the code, but I'm learning. Hopefully within a few days/week, I'll have something figured out. Right now, its blank again because it went off on a wild tangent!

Check who added that profile to favorites. I made it public.
Huh? Are you stalking me (again...still)?

OK, I've already started hacking on it...so its going to be changing constantly. LOL

Ummm...ok, how do I make a music profile? LOL, I'm serious....I don't see that option. I'm willing to work on it, but need to get a music profile first.

click on the music link on the maroon banner - then on the far right of it on the music page, there's an artist signup link.
Can you change a regular one to a music one?

Used to, not any more.
Well, thats no fun. Guess I have to create another email address and sign up again. LOL

i made a code that does it look at http://www.myspace.com/thefashionplague ...
if you send me a message i will happily send you the code
Can I have the code for div overlay for a band page?
Are music profiles all that different than regular ones? Well, I guess I'll just go set one up and work on a div overlay for it to find out....

Throw the donkey a waffle. C'mon you know you want to... No? You hate donkeys, don't you?
Yes, Dave they are a bit - some codes are different, their associations. And the music player is what I think the kicker is - we'd naturally want to keep the myspace one and not get into trouble by copying the code (moving it). So it really couldn't be a total overlay, could it? It's not worth doing if it's breaking any rules, IMHO - not willing to risk deletion for a band profile. Plus, in my case anyways, I want to keep the calendar (so it's a searchable event). I found it would probably just take to much effort to update the calendar with a .div.
I played around with one for a while and gave up - just couldn't get it perfect. But I'm sure it would take a pro like you two seconds to perfection!
I'm actually excited to see what you come up with!!!!
I've looked for a good .div help site too for band profiles and have yet to find one. So I second this topic - if anyone has found a good site with tutorials for one, I'm all ears. Erm, fingers. Erm, eyes.
For now, I'm going with the attitude of "This band's too cool to bother" Ha.
