Myspace login issue

Myspace login issue

So you know when you go to myspace home before you sign in, it says "hello XXX" and then you can sign in. Well My "XXX" has been a dispay name i had almost 2 weeks ago. It's only happening on my home computer. At work it comes up with my new display name. I have cleared out everything... cookies, temp files, temp internet, history etc. I'm worried that something fishy has been done to my computer that is making it still pick up the old display name. Usually after clearing everything, it has NO name there, just the sign in box.

Any suggestions?

Well, I'm certain not a genius....But the slow speed for your computer could be a ram issue. How much memory do you have? If you add more ram, maybe the speed issue will be resolved. Also, in my experience, older computers with slower processors tend to be slow as web browsers come with newer, more enriched versions...And if you have more than one widow open at a time, the speed problem gets worse.

Hope my contribution helped, if only to look into a possible origin for one of the problems. As far as the old login name and the possible cookies-related problem, I cannot even venture a guess! Sad

Re: Myspace login issue

Have you used Ccleaner that Ashton The Hero mentioned in the add/remove programs thread?

http://ccleaner.com

Sped stuff up for me big time - worth a shot. Now, right after using it, things do take a wee bit longer to load. It clears the temp files so the machine has to re-download images, etc.

Have you by any chance changed the cookies settings or how temp files are handled? If it's not saving images in the temp file, that will slow things down, "garble" stuff, etc.

Re: Myspace login issue

Yes, I ran that! I found that thread by using my neat little search box.

Re: Myspace login issue

Waaaa. I don't know what to say then. Dang. Maybe one of our local geniuses can chime in and I hope they do.... I'm frustrated by your situation myself via osmosis, I guess. LOL.

It would drive me nuts. So I feel your pain.

Re: Myspace login issue

Thank you. I was starting to question myself, as to why it is driving me insane, I mean the obvious going slow is understnadable, but this whole display name thing Is actually bothering me more.

I think because a slow computer is not too uncommon, but this display name thingy has me thinking there is something fishy going on... especially considering my situation with my psycho.

Would that be any indication of her somehow getting something to my computer, possibly a keylogger. I have now become obsessed with changing passwords constantly.

Re: Maybe a bigger computer problem... HELP!

Ok, so after cleaning out all my cookies etc, the box DID go empty, however AFTER signing in once, it throws it back to my OLD display name. This is only happening on my home computer, so I know it's not a myspace issue.

ALSO, since this problem has arose, everything has been "choppy" on my computer. For instance, when I type, it takes several seconds for the typing to appear, when I switch windows it takes very long for it to switch (not load, but just go from one to the other), even sounds are choppy and drug out. Like when I receive an IM, the sound takes longer and is all chopped up.

I'm thinking these things have got to be related. Something is slowing down my computer, and obvioulsy making it remember old stuff. I've defraged, cleaned everything, ran spybot, etc.

PLEASE any other suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated. It's driving me crazy.

Re: Maybe a bigger computer problem... HELP!

Do you have Myspace Mozilla?  If you do, perhaps this is affecting your comp in some way.

you do in this life, will echo for eternity.

Re: Maybe a bigger computer problem... HELP!

Nope, the only add on i have is ad blocker, and i have that on all computers I use

Re: Myspace login issue

Yeah i do think they get that name from the cookies because it's always gone right after i delete those. Does anybody else use your computer?

Re: Myspace login issue

Nope, just me. But I do have a psycho stalker, that I'm afraid could've sent me a virus, keylogger or something.
