I'll have to try Ares (though, I just google/wikipedia'd it; and it looks like I'll be trying giFToxic instead.... but Ares is amoungst it's supported networks); but I've used the Gnutenulla client "Limewire" without any issues concerning viruses. It does give me notifications everyonce inawhile telling me that a virus has been detected, or a file has failed hash verification; but it always gets deleted before it causes trouble. Besides, what are you downloadeding? executeables or just data files (movies and music)?
I've been using torrents for music a lot lately. It's a good addition to soulseek. I tried out ares once but it took ages to hash all my files. I didn't give it a fair chance though and i've heard good things about it.
