I'm a metal head from back in the day. In high school I mostly listened to metal. The harder the better. Master Of Puppets is about close to perfect as a metal album can get. It's heavy, dark and twisted. Orion is one of the best metal songs ever recorded and it doesn't even have lyrics. Cliff Burton was a genius. Disposable heroes is angry and fast. My Junior year I wrote a paper with excerpts from Welcome Home Sanitarium that should have landed me in the counselors office but some how it didn't. When I would skate this album blared in my mind as I tried to push my body and skill level past the breaking point. To this day I still use that trick. Right before trying to do something on my board that might get me hurt I play some crazy metal in my head to get me pumped up enough to not care about getting hurt.
So what's your favorite album? What will you listen to regardless of trends in music? I won't get mad if it's not metal.

and I was VERY young when Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets came out (sorry, not-so-subtle jab at smartmom and devil, hehe) Harvester of Sorrow is still one of my top 20 favorite metal/rock songs.
