A mayor was fired in Oregon after posting pictures on myspace....the myspace album was only visable to her friends. So what do you think- should she have been fired?

Yes, she should have been fired.  If you're mayor or in politics at all, you're a public figure, and everyone knows that anything on the Internet is never completely private.

Hmmmm well in Britain London has just voted in a Mayor who in my opinion has done worse things...not that I'm biased or bitter about it!
I don't know the full story. She posted sexy pics right? Well surely she would know they would get out, even if only her friends could see her album. Maybe she wanted the pics to get out because she's proud of her appearence, it just backfired really bad!
Either way I think it's a bit of a risky and stupid thing to do.

i dont thik she should have been fired, someone probably contacted her friend, and said, "hey, get anything we can use against her" so the person did, but thats my idea,

I didn't read the links posted here, but I heard about this on the news last week. I could be wrong, but I thought the pics had something to do with a charity? I don't remember. And I thought it was a relative of hers that put the pics up...? Either way, it probably wasn't something she should have been fired over. Anyone wanting to live in the public eye really needs to be careful about this kind of stuff.

The pictures were taken before she was mayor. Should she have taken them down? Probably. Should she have gotten fired because these were up? I don't think so. Nowhere in the article does it mention what kind of a job she was doing as mayor. Maybe they were just looking for a reason to fire her.

if she's dumb enough or has such poor judgement that she wouldn't know better than to remove those pics on myspace, i wouldn't want her running my town making important decisions and handling the budget

She wouldn't look bad if she'd take a day off (okay, a few months off) from the tanning salon... that and put on makeup that didn't look muddy.

I think she's an idiot for posting any pictures like that as a mayor... 'friend's only' doesn't mean crap if you're a mayor and have the entire city on your friend's list. It's a stupid reason to get fired, but that's how it works nowadays.

I dont think she should have been fired.

That being said, I think shes an idiot. Anyone who is a public figure and chooses to post those sort of images on a public domain should face the consequences of their actions. If you dont want someone to see it, dont post it on the internet.

I agree she is a idiot.  At first I thought give me a break - it's a private profile and she is a adult.  Plus is this any more revealing than what you would see in a bikini.  THEN I noticed the truck (see the engines lights) and read it the article:

where at one time anyone could see photos of her on one of the town's fire engines

OK that does make her a HUGE idiot.  Posing on the town's fire engines did cross the line and I can see why they took action.  Should she have been fired - I dunno I didn't see all of the pictures.  At the very least her stupidity of posing on the fire engines should have gotten her in trouble.

I think it was wrong to fire her.  From the pics I saw she was not doing anything wrong.  So what, she was a beautfful woman who had a sexy pic taken.  We didn't impeach Bill and he got a ho lot more IN THE OVAL OFFICE.

 

I've learned that whenever I decide something with kindness, I've usually made the right decision.
