Mary, Mary Quite Contrary....
Submitted by Hot2na on May 4, 2008 - 2:37pm.
....how does your garden grow?! This past week I've been busy flower pot gardening. It is far too hot in our climate to have a year around garden. Truly, the cornfields in the dead of summer would be popping faster than a microwave. However, I do like to dink around with my flowerpots and plants on the patio or by the pool. Quite a few folks here do what is known as bucket veggies, whereas they grow vine tomatoes in five gallon buckets. That way, they are mobile and can be put in the sun before it is blazing hot, then returned to the shade....well, where it is in the low 100's vs. high. Chili's are great for that type of gardening as well, and even a few herbs. Who likes to garden? Vegetables, fruit trees, flowers, chili's? Re: Mary, Mary Quite Contrary....

First and foremost I have to shoot a email to LynnH - she has the most awesome garden - its HUGE and makes me hungry when she talks about all her fresh veggies. Yep makes me drool. She has to post pics in here. Ok I worked on my little flower garden today - before it got so hot that I thought I was going to pass out - yep it kicked my butt today. This is my little front flower beds and little pond. We use to have fish in it but well I live in FL and skeeters and frogs can be problems so now the pond gets a regular shot of bleach. ![]()
![]() I use to have a awesome butterfly garden with a cool trellis but mother nature in the form of Hurricane Francis decided that it had to go. I had every intention of rebuilding it but I blew my knee so that go put on the back burner and just never happened (knee is good now). I do still have some banana trees and some coconut palms that have cool bends to them (again compliments of multi hurricanes). ![]()

I have a cool gazebo that I would like to do a Japanese theme garden around (some bamboo and some ornamental plants). So anyone into Japaneses gardens that have any ideas - I would love some input? OK keep in mind Sunny (HOT) south FL. area. ![]()
So that is my backyard and front flower garden. Yeah I want to do more but I also want to keep it open for the view. Ok so I posted this so that others will post their yards - come on lets have a looksie. How to add Pictures

Mmmmmm......nanners! Very pretty and so green. So green, I love it. I will post some. I probably have about 1,000 pictures from last year that I haven't transferred from Picasa yet. It will be so hard to decide because I love them all.
If I was standing on a fish, I'd slip and fall...... Re: Mary, Mary Quite Contrary....

Oh dogwoods are beautiful! I would love to do more but I'm not a huge fan of yard work especially when its full summer heat. I need low maintenance or that only needs that every 6 months maintenance. The one plants our by my front little pond (the ones on the left) are normally covered in purple flowers (year round) but well yesterday they got there healthy little trimming so only a few flowers were on it.
