mac mouse

mac mouse

Anyone else having problems with the index finger roller ball that have come standard with the new iMacs? I LOVE the feature, but after 2 months of owning it... something must of clogged the works and the roller doesnt want to roll!

Thinking I might go with a different brand mouse instead; in fear of it happening again with a mac mouse.

Any suggestions?

Re: mac mouse

this may sound a bit anal...

but i try to wash my hands before i use the computer.. at least when i remember to.

think about it, the keyboard/mouse/track pad is what you touch at random times, it can get pretty filthy with bacteria and all... let alone public computers. just as bad as handling money, don't you think?

that's why i carry a sanitizer in my car..

sure gets more mileage out of my keyboard/mouse this way.

Re: mac mouse - DIRTY

I had this exact same problem with my index-finger-ball about 6 months after i bought it. it seems that playing with your mac with dirty hands & fingers is not wise. i tried wiping it but nothing helped.
The apple support page says to turn the mouse updside down, then using a semi-damp rag or cloth, vigorously clean the ball by rubbing it back and forth.. I had already done this several times when it was NOT upside down, but after turning it upsidedown and doing it for about 10 seconds, the problem was solved!

Re: mac mouse - DIRTY

I did this and it worked. Also i used a q tip with alcohol after and it worked after my first attempt didn't.
