Re: mac gone nuts

Take out the battery while saying 'yoink' .....   And seriously, make sure she tried the powerbutton thing... have her hold it down for an entire minute if she has to... sometimes it seems like you held it down longer than you really did...

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

Re: mac evil spinning wheel

Did she press and hold the power button for 8-10 seconds to try and power it off?

Re: mac gone nuts
yes she did. she also typed in shut down in the spotlight and it sadi do you want to shut down and she said yes, still nothing.

Re: mac gone nuts

Ok, i havent touched a mac since high school---a long time ago-LOL

but could you just unplug it?

If it still works after that--run as fast as you can away from that computer.

Re: mac gone nuts

it's a laptop so she unplugged it and she is waiting for it to run out of juice. I had an electronic keep working after I unplugged it, scarred the crap out of me. then I realized it had battery back up Eye-wink

where are all the mac masters!?

ok I googled and found this--

"If nothing's responding at all, you may as well simply turn it off manually. Anything you were working on when it froze will lose any changes that you haven't yet saved, but you wouldn't be able to save it if the machine's frozen anyway. Hold down the power button for several seconds and it should turn off. If that doesn't work (which would be pretty bizarre), unplug the power cable and remove the battery. Wait a few seconds, then plug it all back in and turn the Mac back on, and you'll likely be able to continue normally from there. If you suspect a certain application of being responsible for the Mac freezing, try to avoid using it, or even remove it, and see if it helps."

Re: mac gone nuts
