Today I took mini me to see Kitt Kittredge: An American Girl movie. I thought she would enjoy the movie because she has 4 American Girl Collection dolls and 1 Hopscotch Hill American Girl Doll. She did like the movie and as a parent I would recommend taking your daughter, grand-daughter, niece, little sister, etc. The setting is during the great depression - - and I don't mind telling you ...it totally depressed me. Also made me cry. Ugh....I Know! Crying at a kid flick. Who'd of thought?! And how appropriate that this movie come out now while our economy is tanking and the housing market is so soft, yet volatile with foreclosures making history. I came away from the movie feeling absolutely thankful for everything I have. I don't think that is what the director was hoping for though. Maybe she was?
Okay, back to the movie review. In one word, Wholesome. The setting was right on, the props, clothing, era, etc. And there were prejudices discussed other than race, gender, or religion. It is worth watching a second time. However, I would love to get another parent's review on it. Oh, and while taking your little one, there were lots of girls who took their doll to the theatre with them. Just wanted to give you a heads-up on that note! Anyone see it yet?

you asked. <edit: add> but it did really bother her. she still asks about it and is kind of freaking out because she does watch the news and is pretty tuned in with our current economic times.
