John From Cincinnati

I've been watching John From Cincinnati since the first episode, but i still don't get it - can someone explain it to me?  Am i really this stupid, or does anyone understand what's going on?

Who is this John guy?  is he just a retard?  Is he some kind of mystic?  Is he the second coming of Jesus?  Why does the grandfather keep floating?  Was it the John from Cincinnati guy that healed the surfer kid, or was it the bird?  and on last week's episode, toward the end when they were all bbq'ing at the motel, who/what the heck was the green/dead looking guy that John carried out  and sat down on the ground?

???

PS - Ed O'Neil is really good in it - he's certainly no Al Bundy !

Re: John From Cincinnati

I just read this one was cancelled. Sorry to those of you that liked it. I had also forgot that it was made by the same guy who created Deadwood, another show that was killed too soon.

I didn't even get to watch it!  I was hooked on Deadwood though, I still can't believe that one was cancelled...

Re: John From Cincinnati

the dead guy was the gohst that the new owner of the motel was afraid of in room 24 or 22 i cant remember which. i think john is john the baptist and shaun is the second coming of christ because when shaun is skateboarding john tells kai to "see god." other than that the show is still a mystery to me.

Re: John From Cincinnati

Last night was by far the most bizarre yet IMO.  I'm going to have to watch it again here soon just to see if anything made sense.  haha

Re: John From Cincinnati

John's origins hasn't really been discussed yet but I am going to guess that he is some type of healer or alien or something....he's either not from this earth or from the future, (like in the 4400 another great show).... alot of this show confuses me too but I think it will all fall into place before the season is over...

Re: John From Cincinnati

I've heard of this show, and I was curious about it.  Now I'm considering actually upgrading to HBO, there's not much else worth watching on anyway, lately, and you guys are making it seem even more interesting than I had thought.

I agree with you....great show!    Surfiing is a blast, but hard to learn, I suggest going with someone who knows how to teach you.   Good luck!

Re: John From Cincinnati

That show is awesome!    I've been watching from the beginning too, and just love it.   At first I thought John might be an alien (and actually haven't ruled that out yet) but now am beginning to think he may be the second coming of Christ.  Not sure as of yet.

It is such a bizarre show, and I think that may be one of the reasons I like it.   The cast is very good, and I absolutely love Rebecca De Mornay as the grandma.    Although I think my favorite character is Cass, the reporter, played by Emily Rose.   Now, of course, this is purely from a physical attraction point of view mind you....hehe

I can't wait to see what evolves and where things go with such a strange cast and script writing.

Re: John From Cincinnati

Rebecca DeMornay is really good too.. But, the kid that plays Shaun can't act to save his life.. As far as who/what John is? I just realized something... his initials (sort of) are JC ... and in the last two episodes, doesn't he keep talking about his "father" ?

Re: John From Cincinnati

I've never seen the show but i can tell you that one of my favorite expletives is "Jesus Farggin' Cristo!"  (pronounced "Hey-Zeus").

Those initials cannot be a coincidence...

Re: John From Cincinnati

Hmmm...I have never heard of it.  I guess I am really out of the loop when it comes to television shows...I actually had to google it to even find out that it's on HBO.  I used to watch Deadwood religiously, and all of a sudden it wasn't on anymore...so here's a new show for me to get hooked on.  Thanks Hubby...lol.
