Is The 'Filtering Scare' for Real?

SO I'm wondering if the big Filtering Scare is for real. I hadn't updated anything in my profile since the warning started. I was using 4 or 5 trackers. They were all still working, but when I view my own page over the last 2 weeks, in Firefox w/ the MySpaceMozilla options, it used to only say this page is using a SpySpace Tracker, then it changed to TrakerJak, now it only says I'm using a ProfileViewsPlus tracker, but it seems all of the trackers except for Trakerjak are still tracking visitors, just not as many as before. 2 of the tracker home pages say I need to update the code in my profile.

And of course I forgot and went on vacation this weekend and wanted to post a new slide show from the vacation, so now I updated, but the same ones are still working.

I guess I'm looking for advise. I'm wondering if I can edit my profile some more and just update all my tracking codes so they all work again. I guess I'm just not sure what to do or what will happen and looking for some guidance...

Well I guess I got my answer, ProfileViewsPlus, SpySpace and TrackerJak are all now filtered out of my profile, even when I try to replace the code with a new one. Trakzor is the only one working and we all know how helpful that is! But both my slideshows arn't working right now, do they run on the same type of 'codes'? I don't know what it's called, but I'm wondering if MySpace filtering out the wording in the tracker codes also filters something in the codes for my slideshows. (they're not from Myspace pics, they're from Slide.com.)

You said that both your slide show are not working, you mean on Myspace? Did this happen when you added a tracker? Can I take a look at your Myspace and see what's wrong with your slide show?

Thanks for the response, but a day or two later the slide shows did start working again, I deleted the tracker codes that were filtered out.

I just added a new tracker to mine after getting rid of spyspace. I have had no problems since. So I am thinking that all of mine were coming from spyspace to begin with....

I have spyspace and updated last night, the section that doesn't have the code in it... I lost it. So now the only thing I have working is the short code that I got when I donated the $5.

I always thought you were not supposed to change anything on your profile. But spyspace put out a notice today that you should only avoid changing the section where the code is located. So it sounds as though it's supposed to be ok to change areas where you dont have a tracker. But I'm still scared! Sad

I don't have spyspace but I do have other trackers. I have updated my profile a couple of times since that scare came out and I don't have any problems with my trackers. Maybe it DOES have to do with editing the area where you put the tracker code. I know that profiletracker.us says not to mess with the school section or you'll screw up the code. Maybe it's like that for spyspace?? I just know that I deleted trackers and then entered the codes again and have them all up and running again.

Jewels - you could always do a google cache of your profile later if you try to update and it screws it up... just a thought. Saved me when my profile got jacked during that bulletin scam. All of it was there and I was able to load it all back up again.

Thanks Miz Smiling good to know everything is still working for you. I may get brave and give it a shot over the next few days. I want to add some coding to change my login date, remove the identities of the people who comment me, and just basically screw with the ex who accuses me of hiding things on my profile. Sooo, I figure if I'm going to be accused.....Heck, I may as well make it worth it!!! I have a backup copy of my profile, since I use Myspace Mozilla. And if I do decide to change anything, I'll do another backup first, just in case. But thanks for the cache idea, I hadn't thought of that one. Smiling

Honestly I have updated my webpage quite a few times since the filtering scares went up. Spyspace seriously screwed up my page. So after numerous attempts I finally got it off myspace & everything is working fine again...

So I would go ahead & update them. Esp. if you put a slideshow up & nothings happened.
