last seen 4 weeks 16 hours agoThis might seem like a stupid question but as I understand it, if you have firefox and you import the list of addresses to be blocked on adblock plus, then those particular myspace trackers will not be able to detect you. I have done all this but when i go to my own page (which has a tracker that is on the block list), and i run my mouse over the ABP stop sign at the right of the toolbar, it says 0 items blocked. is this just because i am on my own page? or is my adblock plus not working correctly? it says that adblock plus is active. thank you for any answers!

im confused and a bit slow
i have firefox and signed up for adblock plus. when i look at my preferences it shows (in a matter of minutes) quite a few numbers next to the list of tracking sites. I dont understand what that means. I thought it meant people going on my page had those trackers but that doesnt make much sense. Can i just have some adblockplus for dummies instructions? Thank you.
It means those trackers or websites have been present that many times on the webpages that you have visited and adblock plus has blocked them.
Adblock plus will not show you anything about anyone who visits your page. That's what trackers do. Adblock plus is not a tracker. It keeps you from being tracked.
thanks jp...so i should always log into myspace through firefox or does it not matter? i dont like firefox with myspace because it distorts profiles - mine at least
If you want to block trackers, you should only browse Myspace in Firefox because Adblock Plus can only work while using Firefox.
On a side note, you may want to alter your profile so that it looks good in both IE and Firefox since many people do use Firefox/Mozilla browsers. I know that I avoid peoples webpages that show up distorted, even if they are my friends, so you may be unknowingly discouraging people from reading your profile. I don't know what purposes you use Myspace for so it may not matter to you but just thought I'd mention it.
Click on the ABP sign in the upper right hand corner. Click Preferences. Where it says Filter Subscriptions:
What does it say after each Filter Subscription? It sounds like you might not have imported the subscription lists quite right somewhere.
It doesn't matter if it's your own page. This means that either your tracker isn't showing up or adblock isn't working right. Do you update the block list regularly?
I check back for updates to the list every week or so. I'm not really sure what is wrong with it because when I go to other myspace pages, sometimes it will tell me that one item has been blocked. Even on this page it says that one item has been blocked out of twenty (and under most active filters it says google-analytics.com). Also, when I scroll down my page, I can see my Trakzor icon. I'm assuming this means that my adblock plus isn't working correctly. Any suggestions as to what I should do about checking/fixing my adblock plus?
The only thing i can think of is that you whitelisted your page so that adblock doesn't work on it. But then the "ABP" icon would change its color to green on your page and you would see your page url in the preferences window under "exception rules". If that's not it then maybe you can send me a link to your profile so i can check it out.
