Yikes, thank you for the heads up! Out of curiousity, is this being sent to any particular email clients? Or just random? thx in advance.

Yep.

The Real IRS uses Certified Mail and not E-mail for such notifications and It is actually a IRS Auditor that writes you the Letter.

When I got one this year I was scared cause I saw the IRS Auditor address and thought I had been randomly selected for an audit.

Turned out I missed a Deduction and they needed written permision to issue me a refund and to let their "adjustment" stand (as they need permision to alter your tax forms) so I signed the authorization and sent it back to the IRS AUditor in the Prepaid certified mail envelope and got my Refund.

They didn't ask for any "critical" information (always raises a flag if someone that claims to know you has to ask for information they should already have) and the IRS Auditors address was legit so....

Also, we live in a voluntary tax society where the IRS does not calculate our tax due or refund due for us so that first sentence should have been a tip off...lol
