You are looking at someone's profile on myspace. They do NOT have a tracker. The only thing they can get is an IP address of the person that visited their profile? If they have that number say 123.456.789.01 they can take it to an IP address locator website and find out what city and state it is from but not this is Hannah Smith's computer at 1245 Village Lane? Right? I guess I do not know what is so bad about having your IP tracked when all they can tell is the city and state I think???
I found codes for images that if posted in a comment or put into your profile, will show you ip adress, I have no idea how it works but its on a website called 123codes.com here is the link:

most ip tracers will only bring you within 50 miles of the target IP, some ISPs will make the tracer take you to where the ISP is located, like if you traced someones ip address that has a Verizon ISP, and the ISP was located in california, and the person is located in NY, the tracer would say the person lives in california, hope this helps

I think you may be referring to the little boxes on someones myspace page that shows your ip address, Internet Service Provider, and browser, etc.
You are the only person who can see that box and it changes to tailor to each viewer of their page. It is possible that the owner of the myspace page may have tracking records of it though. But not everyone can see it. Just you and them.
You can't get name and address of the owner of an IP address without an order of the court requesting it from your Internet Service Provider...rarely granted.
wait, there's such a thing as a little IP box on people's myspace profiles??? Could you give more info??? I have trackers, so I'm not intereste in tracking people through them...But I AM curious now about this little...what do you call it...widget...??

EDIT: I'm having a hard time finding it. The friend on my friend list who had it has had their profile cancelled or deleted. And I haven't found it on the web yet. I have to go into work and when I get home I will look some more. Unless someone else knows.
**EDIT 2** I sent a myspace message to another person that I remembered having one of those boxes and asked them where they got it. It is not on their profile anymore, otherwise I could right click the box or view the source of their page to find out what website they got it from.
So, I will wait for a response from them and post back when they reply. I'm gonna add one to one of my profiles as well

Ok just so everyone doesn't freak when they see this one pic above this is a WIDGET and not a tracker. However when you view this you are seeing YOUR IP. Only you see your IP - when I view it I see mine. I just wanted to point that out so that when everyone looks at this (since another thread was directed into here) that its a widget and not a tracker. So no worries - no need to quick IM a mod and go "OMG that is meeeeeeee"

Yeah, that's correct.
They would have to have a tracker of some sort on their myspace profile to get your IP address. I mean, look at your myspace - where does it show IPs of visitors? You need a tracker for that.
