I know Firefox is the best way to keep your online activities private and I want to download it, but not if it's gonna take up a lot of space on my comp, slow it down, or make things look drastically different. When switching from Internet Explorer on a Windows Vista Hewlett Packard laptop, what should I expect if I were to change to Firefox?
Want to install Firefox, but not if it's gonna cause drastic changes...
There is an add on for Firefox called IE Tab. It will let you open IE inside Firefox if you come across a page that won't open right in Firefox. I have it but very, very, very rarely use it. You just click the little symbol to toggle back and forth. Add ons are part of what make Firefox awesome and tuff. That's right I said TUFF.

Yeah when I do have to use that site I use the IE tab in Firefox. Here is that extension:

Beautiful extension! Out if the small handful of sites I visit that just don't render properly in Firefox, IE tab saves me the hassle of having to even open that other slow bowser, EXCEPT for my local bus schedule. For some reason, even using IE Tab, it's all weird, and I can't input text.

"You must be", said the cat, "Or you wouldn't have come here"
OK, glad it's not just NJ Transit, not just me. If I just want to view a schedule, it's fine, I can pull them up. If I need to get point to point directions, entirely different story, all the text input boxes, like for your address and zip code and such, are just smooshed together in a big jumble on the bottom. I hate IE so much I'll call them on the phone for the schedule rather than open it, lol.

Well on Humana.com I can enter in all the data (a ton of it) then I would hit enter and my page would look almost like a view source and just say error on top - that is why I called them. Since I'm the account administrator for our company on Humana I have to go on their site. Like I said its fine until you hit enter and then your left wondering WTF?!?!

I have a HP lap top (and it runs vista) and HP pc and there is no issue at all. Firefox also takes up alot less ram than IE. Its safer and when you download it you can also import in all your IE favorites you have saved. Yes its a change and when I changed I was grumpy - yeah I was in the IE cuddle puddle. Now OMG I die when I have to use IE. Give it a try and I promise you once your on it a while you won't go back to IE (unless you have to). But like tuna said you do not have to delete IE you can use both.

i switched from IE to FF2 about 6 months ago. then right away switched to a MAC with FF3B5 and love it! FF3B5 is very quick and takes up less memory than any other prior version. the transition for me was relatively easy. both from IE to FF2 on my PC, then from PC FF2 to a MAC FF3B5.
do yourself a favor and read the Firefox release notes and about its improved performance.
P.S. if i ever have the need to launch IE, i can simply do so on my MAC by emulating windows.
