Update: My IM went to the intended recipient. Twice. First one just read, "it". Second one had the actual IM. We're still split up, GUG IM and me, so I am considering hooking up with a nice HTML editor. You know what they say... (nah - I don't know what they say,either).
I'm back to using The Notepad Method of Online Communication faithfully again.
I used to do this for everything I posted online, be it a forum post or blog or whatever (and I have the collection of thankfully reconsidered so never-shared .txt files to prove it!).
I guess I've gotten lazy because I haven't been doing it much here on GUG. And I am paying for it now.
But punching everything out in notepad so it's a quickie copy and paste to post it has been a pretty reliable method for me.
ack ack ack! I just finished writing a really long post about some software and i confirmed an IM before I posted and I guess that was dumb of me (doh) because i lost my entire post! i just spent like 30 minutes composing it!!
(just wanted to share. only kinda related to this thread i know...)
Eight out of every 10 posts I reply to here are lost instantly! Poof! Gone! I can't even hit the edit button to undo or go back one page like I can other places.
Hubby, I'm wondering, is there a reason for this that we can't go back. I know it is me doing the stupid-dumb-boo-boo-hit-the-wrong-key-now-your-post-is-gone because I do the same thing at Gaia and I can recover my post. For now, when I can remember to, I copy my reply as much as I can while I am composing my reply/post/im, etc.
My hubby now knows what my loud screams mean when he doesn't hear me typing.
If I was standing on a fish, I'd slip and fall......

i know i feel like an *idiot* i really should have known that was going to happen!! now i will compose long posts in autosaving email browser and copy and paste when ready...
we've all done it...or will do it sooner or later. i found myself sending apologies many times and often wondered what the wrong receiver must have thought on a few of my misfires
