How can I tell if someone has a tracker on myspace?

kristi81  just read the threads on the tracker forum. there are many types of trackers and each does something similar yet different. once you read the threads, you'll find one that fits for you and they are relatively easy to do. the threads generally provide the "how to."

yes, evidence of the tracker would be in the source code. You can post a link to their profile here, and I'll look for you. 

urchin tracker isnt a tracker. its just something myspace uses to track usage patterns and ad revenue. you can ignore it. Yes, you can email it to me privately by clicking the contact tab on my profile.

Its not very accurate and it can actually affect trackers adversely. I personally dont reccommend using greasemonkey- but there are people who like it. 

There are a few reasons why HITS might not catch a tracker. If the profile set to 18+, or if it is private are two sure reasons. Do you know which tracker this person uses on their profile? Theres a slim chance its a tracker that isnt on HITS list. HITS (aka, myspacescrape) is a wonderful place to check for trackers.

The other definitive way to check for trackers is to view the persons source page (right click on the profile, view source) and scour it for tracker related links and images. This will require you being very up to date with trackers and knowing what URLs they use.

You can help prevent being tracked- if thats what your concern is- by using Firefox with AdBlock Plus. You can get more information on that here:

Correct, if its set to 18+ then you must set your login info on HITS. Theres a box where you enter your myspace email addy and password. It is safe to use. I am positive hitslink is in the HITS database, so if the profile is 100% public, then HITS will pick it up. Now, that said, nothing is ever 100% accurate or error free. The only 100% way to never ever be tracker, is to not use myspace at all- which I know for most of us just isnt an option, so we just do the best we can. 

I did thankyou. It actually gave me the one the you suggested. Hopefully smartmom and almost evil will make an entrance to help out. I have been told a couple things about where to check like a in "about me" on a myspace page or if you see ... than might be a link to a tracker or sourcing the data on their page. But these were only mere suggestions. No one has ever been able to offer a error-free, accurate reading to detect one.
