How To Customize Your GuG Profile

So you wanna pimp your GuG profile?  Well you've come to the right place!

First thing to know, is that all this coding goes in your 'Tell Us About You...' section... if you're a Premium Member, you need to disable your rich text before you add the coding. You can add on whatever codes you like.

You can find this section by going to My Account, click the EDIT tab, click Personal Info, and scroll down to the 'Tell us about you' box... from there if you're a premium member you'll either have to use the HTML feature or Disable Rich-Text (which you will find under the submission box)... this is where you put the code.

Before you start, I suggest opening up Notepad to play with the coding you want. I also suggest saving whatever is in your about me currently in some word processor for the time being so that you don't lose it.

ALL CONTENT MUST BE OF NO MORE THAN A PG-13 LEVEL

No profile is complete without it's own unique background!   What you need for this is the URL of a picture you would like to use as a background.  Then insert that URL in the correct location in the code.

Background code:

<style> body{background: black url(PictureURL) fixed;}  </style>

Well, if your black text currently clashes with your background, or maybe you just don't want it to be black, here's how you do that.  You'll need to find the Hexidecimal color code for the color you want.  You can get the color code from THIS SITE.  Replace the #000000 in the following code with the color code of your choice.

Code:

This will change the color of all the orange text on your profile. Again you're going to need the correct color code for what you want and replace the #000000

Code:

Same concept as the other color changes, get the color code and replace the #000000 in the following codes

Regular Link Color Code:

Do you just want your background to show up? If those grey sidebars or the blue logo at the top are cramping your style, add in this code.

Note: This will completely right align your profile... I didn't like my 'tell us about you' blurb to be right aligned, so I had to left align it by surrounding it with  <p align="left">BLAH BLAH BLAH </p>...  Just letting you know.

I suggest going to myflashfetish.com or projectplaylist.com and signing up. They both have easy access to searching and easy adding to a playlist. Myflashfetish has more players to choose from big and small.

On myflashfetish.com (I'm using this as the example since it has lots of players) go to THIS PAGE to choose your player.  After you pick what player you want you will then be taken to a page that shows your player.  From here on the left lower box, you can change the colors of your player.  On the lower box to the right of that, you can search MP3s.  The little green play button lets you sample, and the green button with the + sign lets you add that song to your playlist.  Once you add, you can continue searching for more MP3s.  Once you have your playlist done, under the search box you have the ability to edit your playlist with either AutoStart and Shuffle.  Give your playlist a name and click Save (Get Code).  Click the Myspace logo, and you might have to click the 'CLICK HERE' link to get the code to show, copy with Ctrl+C or right click > copy.

You will have a code like the following, you only NEED what's bold... the rest (in blue) you don't have to have... but you can keep if you like...

To put it in your GuG profile, go to My Account, Edit, Personal Info, disable rich text for the Tell Us About You section and paste the code wherever you want the music player to show up.

VIDEOS

To add a video, you just need the embed code.  On YouTube.com to the right of the video there will be some info, and the embed code:

Copy THAT line of code, and insert it in your profile where you want it (again, through HTML or Disable Rich-Text for premium members)

WIDGETS

If you want a widget, there are TONS at WidgetBox.  If you go there, pick the widget you want, and to the right click the Get Widget button:

You will then see the following, press the Copy button:

Once you get the code, feel free to remove what's in BLUE, it's not necessary, but you do NEED the code in bold.

Put the code in your profile with the other coding (disable rich text) wherever you want the widget to show up!  Presto!

**Note! - If you are a Premium Member, all of your customizations will also be displayed in your blog-posts.  Be sure to look at your blog posts to verify that your text-color combos are still readable!
