Hello,
I have a problem with my Hard Drive which failed on me couple of years ago. My BIOS sees it however windows does not. As I run some check up programs on windows they gave me answer that SMART feature of the HDD is disabled (Western Digital - SMART feature is enabled from manufacturer). The checkprograms from DOS gave me -- disk boot failure, no boot file name.
As i run a program on the windows to see if it has bad clusters i get millions of them; i tried to repair some bad clusters with HDD regenerator, however it froze on me after 800 mb of checked space. I'm going to try again and again and I'll try some other stuff, but if you have any idea of How I can GET my data off that HD I will appreciate it.
Thank you

Have you verified that SMART is enabled in your BIOS for this drive?
You would have to hit a button when the system is posting to enter the BIOS. Usually it's Delete or F2, or something similar. Then you can go find the settings for the Disk and enable SMART, if it's not already.
I would check that first as that could be one reason why you don't see it enabled inside windows (I'm no expert on SMART but it makes sense, since that is where it's usually disabled).
Another thing you can try is to get data recovery software or "forensic" software to read whatever is still available on the drive. Just do a few searches for "free data recovery software" or "Free forensic software". You should get some hits and might find a free trial or something that would help you recover your data. It sounds like the disk might be really hosed but even if it is, I've recovered quite a bit of data from really trashed drives.
