i thought, being that Halloween is my favorite holiday, it would be kinda neat to find out what everyone's plans are. a post to share ideas, traditions, and maybe even some fun recipes. i am hosting a bash and love making scary foods and decorations. i am trying to host one each ear with a different theme. maybe one year a halloween set in old 20s and everyone has to wear something like titanic movie costumes. maybe one year ill do a superhero theme.

we also pick out a pumpkin or two...or three...and carve them. (usually one for every family member) then we do the whole GET CANDY trick or treating with friends and kids.

whats your favorite part of Halloween?

i've never heard of "mischief night" nor have i/we ever experienced it in our neighborhood. i have heard of "devil's night, which seems to be he same thing. anyone else? i'd be pretty lit up of any of that happened to my home.

I havent watched it in a few years becasue of schedule conflicts but......

no one watches that for Halloween? am i the only Peanuts fan/geek?

It's called "Goosey Night" in my area, I'm not really sure why. Harmless fun, toilet paper, shaving cream, soap, silliness.

Yes and I as a youth did participate in mischief night. It's a right of passage on Halloween just like prank calls at a slumber party. All in good fun, no harm ever came about it just a big mess.

Kids in my parents neighborhood go down the street thinking it is funny to make that kind of mess of someones property. It isn't though. They hit all the houses the elderly, the disabled. My Dad is disabled so the big mess isn't harmless a man who can barely walk shouldn't be cleaning up after little brats.

Those are kids whose parents need to give them an ass whooping and teach them a little courtesy and kindness. Don't get me wrong, back in the day, my friends and I trashed a few houses with toilet paper, shaving cream, etc. Stuff that cleaned up, no permanent damage, and on EACH OTHER'S houses and cars. If my house got hit, guess who was cleaning it up the next morning...ME. Like I said, we'd target each other's houses, never, ever random elderly strangers, that's not fun, that's just vandalism. Here, kids are mean with it, too. Shaving cream can be hosed off. Spray paint can't. Another thing that pisses me off is when the kids smash pumpkins. Some little 3 year old worked hard on that, don't be a jackass. This morning I saw 4 or 5 of them smashed in the street on the way to drop Boyfriend at work. Made me sad, some kid probably woke up crying about it this morning.

We lived in a really boring rural area... so this "mishief" night was just every weekend! :) T.P. someone's house and cow tipping.... ohhhh.... no egging though, the worse thing is that I grew up where it rained a lot so if you T.P'd and then it rained and it was your house your mom was MAD! Smiling but it's bio-degradeable!

I carve pumpkins with my brother, like every year. Then I get to hang out with about everyone I know (Somehow, I made it work)

Halloween is my favorite holiday. I love it! I dress up every year. Even at work. Each year we decorate the house. This is our second Halloween here so we don't have a lot of decorations yet. We're going to stock up on the day after sale. Next year it's on big time. We always take the kid to Huber's Orchard to get pumpkins. You take a tractor ride out the pumpkin patch and pick your own. It costs a bit more than buying them at the grocery store but very worth it. They also have store where you can buy apple cider made from apples grown right there. We carve the pumpkins as well. Duh. Even though I only get my daughter every other Halloween we still manage to get trick or treating in. We used to go to the Zoo. (I know I'm a sell out). This year she's a too old to go without getting embarrassed about being there. I found out though that a nearby city has decided to Trick or treat on Thursday instead. I have her every Thursday so this is perfect.

Man I love Halloween.

I don't want to die without any scars.

oo... a real orchard! i don't think we have one nearby. i would love to take the kids to one. and i love dressing up at work too. if you work with the right people its lots of fun. and feel free to send me some apple cider if you happen to get too much =)

cr@p! Why didnt anyone tell me about painting a pumpkin! lol.. I carved mine last Sunday with the nephew.. I was leaving to work this morning and noticed they are getting soggy already!! dang.. i hope they last till Halloween.. My tradition is the pumking carving with the nephews & lil sis.. And baking some cool halloween cupcakes..

we carve ours the week of, which is now! i always select the most unusual shaped white pumpkin i can lift! husband of mine and mini me are in pursuit of perfection: orange, round, flawless, with a long stem. selecting and carving is my favorite part.

I took my class to the pumpkin patch a few weeks ago. I did not want to carve 10 pumpkins so we were going to paint them. One of my aides had a different idea and when i was in a meeting began carving. Well I walked into today and the pumpkin had rotted!!! Mold was growing all over the stuff near it. It happened so quickly. We WILL be painting them next year.

We always try to make our own costumes.. well, let me re-phrase my daughters and I always try to make their costumes instead of buying them. It's fun to get creative and spend time with mom and girls. Plus this gives me an opportunity to teach them on the sewing machine and share my love for all things crafty.

My owm tradition with my husband is going to Knott's Halloween Haunt in Orange County. We've gone every year since I was about 11 years old Smiling Lots and Lots of fun!
