What do GUG Points mean/do ? I see they keep going up and down, but i dont know what they mean, can they be traded for stuff ?

ok that would explain why i lost points, i noticed them go down after i a while, i was just starting at the first new topic then just going down, replying to what i know,

The only stupid question is the one that remains unasked

Well when a admin or moderator goes into a thread and cleans them up per say (removing the off topic comments) you can loose points.  We try and keep the threads clean and neat so that when someone has a issues and that thread deals with it that they don't have to sort though all the off topic comments to find the comments that will help them.  Generally when comments are off topic they will be moved to the brain fart room to sit for a while then they are dumped.  When they are dumped then you will loose the point you earned for posting it.

GuG points can also go down if the system detects certain patterns that make it appear as though a member is attempting to 'run up' their points.

GuG-Points are given automatically for creating posts.

blog entries and new forum topics are worth the most.

"comments" aren't worth much.

Oh I wish they could be traded for stuff I would have the mother load - LOL  You can see the rankings here:  users by GuG-points 

As you can see I'm the resident big mouth here Embarassed I know what can I say I'm a girl and a chatty one.  You should see my cell  phone bill (min.s) - LOL

That would be a cool idea. I've seen forums where they have stores and stuff and that would be a cool mod to add to this forum, if possible--it's all little stuff, like animated images or "items"

Well they do have a gug store on the Home page. I have some of the stuff and I'm using some now. This is my PC (notice my coffee mug and mouse pad):

Oh! I mean, buy like from a virtual store Laughing Like after 1000 points, you can "purchase" a Flying Super Mario, or something, which is basically more for eye candy than what it can actually do. Some forums have something similar (like a SMF shop for Simple Machines Forums), and it just adds more "bling" which is similar to the badges we have.

GuG points go up when you post comments, topics, or blogs...

They're sort of a system... people who have been here a long time and have made a lot of helpful posts have lots of points... those who are new, or who don't post often, don't have quite as many... it's kind of it's own unique 'badge'
